If you want search engines like Google to trust you, you need to have other websites linking back to your content. These backlinks are what prove to be the most helpful if you want organic traffic to your site. Here are some smart ways to get quality backlinks quickly for your site.
1. Be a Samaritan: When you use a tool like Check My Links, which is available as a Chrome plugin, you can look through all broken links on a resource site. Resource sites are blogs or websites that host tips, advices, myths and facts related to your keyword. Once you have the list of broken links, reach out to the site owner and be a good Samaritan. That's right, just go ahead and helpfully point out all of the broken links to the site owner and offer him to replace those broken links with links to your website which has similar content. While not all website owners would agree to that sort of thing, there are many who would be appreciative of your gesture and consider linking to your site to return the favour.

2. Create embedded shareable content: If you like click great photos, you can create a repository for people to use. But don't let them use it for free - you need a link in return. Upload nature, people or objects but embed your link in the image. So everytime somebody shares it, you get your link.

You can also create Infographics. First find content that users would be interested in seeing. You can use Google trends or social listening tools to get ideas. Collect all the data and pay a designer to put it all together in a visually appealing way. Once you have it in place, embed your link in it and share it on your site. You can create the embed code using octatools, siegemedia, tools4noobs and other such online code generators. You can then solicit influencers to share your infographic, or you can even just be patient and wait for users to share it themselves.

3. Listen to Opportunities: Google search for guest blogging opportunities is good but you won't know which sites are 'currently' seeking contributions. A lot of sites have a guest blogging sign up page but they suddenly freeze their article in-take. A smarter way to find the most current opportunities is using social listening tools. Use Hootsuite, Social Mention or Topsy and use guest blogging as the keyword. Create a stream. So everytime somebody announces guest blogging opportunity, you can be the first one to reply.

Always give credit to people and sites who backlink to your site, wherever possible. This earns you friends online who will always help to promote your content.
