  • Are you using a CMS like Wordpress?

If yes, then install yoast seo and change the description through the plugin.
If not, change <title> tags using coding.

Notepad++ can help in this case a lot, since you can see the coding with colors
and lets you edit it easier.

I highly suggest using wordpress though.

  • Hey jagadeesh, You ask a very good question... Don't worry you change meta tags it not affect your current ranking. just take one thing in mind, Never change url of website or internal pages that ranked
  • Making changes to meta tags wont affect your google rankings in anyway. Only thing please use good keywords in your titles and description with the prescribed character length for both of them.

    • I would have to disagree with this statement. First of all, the meta title is probably the most important place to have your targeted keywords. All search engines look at the meta title first to determine what a page may be about.

Then, the allegation that meta titles and meta descriptions do not help with SEO is wrong, too. Our studies, as well as studies done by Neil Patel, Rand Fishkin and others show that your meta titles and meta descriptions can have a dramatic effect on click-through rates and that click-through rates seem to have a very large impact on the ranking of a page.

Therefore, you should spend time making sure that your meta title tag has your targeted keyword phrase for that page - preferably at the beginning - along with something that will grab a human viewer's attention. Now that you have their attention, see if you can construct the best meta description that will get them to click. If I was targeting "easy home alarm system" my meta title and description mike be something like:

So easy a child could install it, see why our home alarm system is one of the most popular ones on the market. Don't miss our Huge Sale This Month!

  • Hi Jagadeesh!
Don't worry, it's not affect to your website's rankings. You can change anything in your website, but avoid to change keywords of posts. Best wishes!

Changing a page title on an page that's already ranked (example anywhere on first page of Google SERPs) is a shot in the foot.

Use heading tag text on the same page to tweak the SERPs.

If the page is buried in the SERPs you have nothing to lose. Edit the page title.

  • If you think that the meta-information wasn't completed correctly, change it, correct it, google can change the length of the title, because the screel resolution changes Google has expanded title lenght to 600px
