Redirecting from invalid but ranking page to a new relevant page?

Let's say my website is abc.com.

abc.com/news&articles/how-to-select-good-zzz-services page is ranking for keywords of "zzz" service on top 10 Google results. But that web page is just a news post and there is no specific page for that service.

Now, we are going to add a new page for that service and how we can save the top ranks? The old news post cannot be redirected (301) to new web page because that content should be there for readers.

What are your suggestions? Have you solved similar issues in the past and what were the result?

Having trouble deciphering what you are asking.

Just from what I can gather, leave everything as is, put a link, up front and center, on the page that's ranking to whatever page you want.

Just what exactly is this useless page that's ranking?

Exploiting a useless page that's ranking is what you should do.

Leave everything where it's at. Use that page for a couple of links.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

DO NOT MESS WITH THE PAGE THAT'S ALREADY RANKED!

Build a 2nd internal page targeting the same keyword, add a one way followed internal link with keyword anchor-text on the already ranked page pointing at the new page. Get the new page indexed.

Basically you're using the already ranked page to pump up the new internal page that's targeting the same keyword. Add more backlinks pointing at the new page If needed, give it a couple of weeks to see how the SERPs respond without additional backlinks.

If you do this right you should be able to phase the old page out for the target keyword and simply use the old page as a link source for the new page. Again, leave the old page alone besides adding the one internal link.

Just talk about the service in the post, pre-sell in the post and link them to the sales page.
