Why does my site fail to rank compared to competitors

Hi all, new here so hopefully I am posting in the right section.
The website I am trying to optimise is Road & Off Road Motorcycle Holidays in France - Ridelimousin and I have used woorank to compare the on page seo
and backlinks etc to the websites that are ranking in the top spots and mine has better on page seo and more backlinks etc, so I am lost as to what is causing my relatively poor ranking.

For example one keyword phrase is "off road motorcycle holidays" the number 1 website (using google..co.uk) is Welcome to Torotrail: Europe’s leading provider of offroad trail riding in Spain and Morocco | Trail Riding in Spain | Torotrail and they are not even using the keyword phrase.

Any ideas why my ranking is so poor? wonder if it has been penalised in some way...

Thanks.

    You have been misled

The amount of links has nothing to do with ranking. Its the quality of the links. in situations like yours it most of the time that your competitors have better quality links.

If that is the problem you need to get better links preferably from real sites. Thats going to cost you in time or money

Its not just links you should rely on its the authority you have on ranking a site.
The other website as been ranked for a long time. You need to work on building trust to your site and invite comments google loves this and write natural good content. Good keywords use keyword tools.

Just concentrate on the content and useful sites where you can earn some quality backlinks. You can also analyze your competitor SEO techniques. There are lots of software who provide the competitor analysis. You can see their techniques how they rank and where they link their site.
