Effects of Google Analytics on PBN?

I was curious if there was a sort of official stance on this around these parts.

Say I have a private blog network involving several of my sites. They all are found on different hosts, private domain registration, etc.

At the same time, wouldn't having one Google Analytics account (multiple accounts within the Google account itself, mind you) which all these sites are on kind of act as a chink in the armor that is my PBN?

Is it not better to spread your websites out across unique Google accounts in terms of analytics or do you avoid Google Analytics altogether with the sites of your PBN?

  • Avoid Google and their analytics all together. Avoid anything that could leave a footprint that the sites are linked such as whois data, registering at different domain registrars, using different hosting providers, registering with different emails, etc.
  • Using ANY Google products anywhere near a PBN is asking for trouble, if not now then at some point in the future.
  • Avoid all together

    A) GA is not the only analytic package out there
    B) unless you are ranking PBN sites theres not a lot of data that you need on them

    • That was sort of my thinking but never thought to get another opinion. What about the money site itself; is there any harm in having a GA account to check on that site? Google has the linking profile of my money site with or without the GA account, so is that a risk?

  • I won't even use GA on the money site.
    There are many statistics plugins available for free on the wordpress depository.
    Use those instead.
  • I never use GA for PBN, I would highly recommend gostats.
  • Converting Copy, I hope this is a joke. PBN and Google Analytics or WMT. This is like you send it directly to Google via eMail in Big Letters: HERE I AM!!! Yes you want to track your visitors. You can use at Wordpress a tracker like NewStatPress, and you're secure!

    • NewStatPress is not in WordPress repository at the time being. Possibly because of a vulnerability.

  • My thinking is that having Google Analytics on the main site could have some advantage. It would be reasonable to expect that google gives some small boost to sites which they can track, collect some data and process it. From their point of view such a site might have more value, so why not give it a small boost?

    But of course having GA on other sites in the network may be deadly, even if they are in other accounts. I think they can recognize if different analytics accounts are accessed from the same computer.

    What about PIWIK? I have Google Analytics + PIWIK on the main site. I would like to add additional sites to that PIWIK installation. My PIWIK uses the same domain (folder) as the main WordPress site, but it is my understanding that it is not visible to Google, because GA tracking is only in WordPress via a plugin.

    My other sites are on other host with private WHOIS. I suppose it would be safe to track them from 1 PIWIK installation. Or not?
  • Personally I think PBNs are a waste of time and too risky, but publicly telling people that you own a PBN with a link to your SEO company in the signature is just asking for trouble for you and your clients.
