I have tried paid advertising and i have failed miserably. I have paid people to show me how but i guess i have been paying the wrong people. So i started working on a SEO blog and I hope that works out. I have been doing quite some research and that's how I ended up here. Any tips on how to get it to rank high on google? Any help would be gladly appreciated.

Ranking high on Google is a science and it doesn't only take a lot of time to read all about it, it also takes quite some time to start being recognized by the search engines.
This entire forum is filled with content about the subject, just brows the forum index and find them OR search for your questions in the search bar on this forum and find threads talking about whatever you want to learn.
    Good luck.

Steps required to raise your current website’s ranking in the search engines and then maintain those levels for the long haul.
    1.Identify Your Competition
Run analysis on what you figure to be the most common keywords searched for your site. Take a look at the websites that rank above you in the search engine results, this is your competition.

    2.Quality Link Building
Find out who do your competitor’s link partner with? Take the highest ranking (quality) websites they are linked to, contact these websites, and set up a link partnership.

3.Perform a Keyword Analysis on the Competition
This allows you optimize your website for the same keywords. You’ll want to check out your competition’s website and optimize the content on your site for these particular keywords more effectively than the competition

    4.Keywords
Create a list of keywords/phrases that you may not have come across from your evaluations and find out what the popularity is of these keywords/phrases. You may find a niche that your competition does not have, therefore creating more exposure for your website. Take your main keywords/phrases and very efficiently place them into your Page Title and Meta description of your website.

    5.Keyword Density
Quite simply, use, but don’t overuse, your main keywords that appear in your Page Title and your Meta Description. Alt Tags and Header Tags increase your Keyword Density.

    6.Submit Your Website
Your website needs to be submitted to the major search engines in order for it to be seen in a timely manner. Google, MSN, & Yahoo, along with other major websites, make it available to you to submit your website for review.

    7.Continue to Refine
Your SEO work is never complete. Getting ranked in the search engines is only the beginning. The ongoing work required to successfully rank high in the search engines never ends. It’s because of the grueling, never ending, process that most people fail at SEO.

Wish you the best of luck!

Your thread title says "down to my last opportunity to make it online" yet in your post you only list one thing you tried, paid advertising, and now SEO The opportunities are endless. If you think you are at the end after doing basically nothing, then you should just seek employment and work for someone.

Just make sure your content is good and you keep coming up with new content regularly.

Also make sure you use social media to your advantage - try getting traffic organically from Facebook, Twitter, etc

My advice, forget trying to get your site ranked on Google. It's too difficult a task and if Google decides to change it's algorithm, you could be back to square one.

Use free and paid advertising methods but make sure you advertise to a target audience, that is to say to people interested in your niche.

I see that you keep changing your focus while the key to success is to focus on one thing first. Anyway, before you start implementing seo, make sure that your keywords do not have the hard competition

It is only your last opportunity because you convinced yourself that is it your last opportunity. There will always be opportunities for anyone to make a living online, it is not easy but very possible. Since you are interested in Internet Marketing you just need to reevaluate what you have been doing and try different ways of marketing online until one sticks. Here's a very important marketing tip leave the cliche methods of marketing alone like SMM and SEO and focus on a different method that's not over saturated.

I recommend that you stop jumping around from one strategy to another. If you are new to this, I would personally not recommend SEO. It is complicated and it takes a lot of time. Go back to a couple of paid traffic strategies.

    Do small tests.

    Try solo ads.

And focus on the content of your blog. Post every day.

Be consistent. It takes time, that is exactly why so many people fail. They give up just before they were about to start making any profit. There are so many people that made it to the top through online marketing. How do you think they did it?

Our best source for traffic has always been quality reviews on other peoples websites/blogs and all social platforms.

It does depend on what you are selling of course but I would recommend reaching out to individuals in your niche and asking them to review and write about your service.

many people are willing to do this to keep their readers intrigued. And all it will cost you is time.

    Good luck!

Create good quality contents that people will share spontaneously. Besides this, collect high DA-PA backlinks from guest postings and other sources. Get backlinks from social networks, social bookmarks, article directories, forums, blog comments, web 2.0 sites, press releases etc - in one word get backlinks from as much platforms as possible.

Here's my formula, and I know this is taught at many top internet conferences:

    YOU NEED:

    1) A decent website, that includes everything including domain, hosting, site, the payment processor ie: paypal or something simple

    2) a well refined offer meeting a pressing need. needs to be razor targetted meeting the need with an amazing offer. Gary halbert and Jay abraham have some good materials online on how to improve your offer. Like your stomack is groweling and you see a sign for a deal on a amazing new burger at McDld's or something. You think "ya I want that". And there's a good chance you might go buy one. There's no difference. Like the customer comes to your site. You got 3 seconds to show him that you got that big mac right there that's gonna solve his problem. Not in some generalized way either. In a very razor focused specific way that forces the buyer to stop and at least say "hmmmm I wonder if this would work". Like you only need 1% of people visiting to buy to have a business. So chances are 1% would buy. But ideally if you could get like 10% buying you'd be rich type of thing. So a lazar targetted offer is key.

    3) a product or service that meets that need. It doesn't have to be great until you know it's working. Then upgrade it later.

    4) Traffic

You need those 4 ingredients. Fail to get any one of them right and you'll fail. But again there's probably a ton of easier ways, but I'm just saying if you wanna build a site/company online that you can grow and maybe one day sell.

First thing to remember: SEO takes time! You can publish tons of posts but it will still take time for Google to pick those up. So you definitely need time. However, you can push your site with active advertising as well as reaching out to other people asking e.g. for guestposts.
What is your site about? Do you have a product to offer?

**** google first and fore-mostly - just pretend they dont even exist and go from there.

Search engines should be a national public sector service - probably best in the hands of the UN in regards to the western world. The Law of the LAND not some company faggot should be the determination of whether your site is good to go or not.

    **** google....!

Ive been suspicious of google picking and choosing who it wants to make rich for years.

Instead of focusing on ranking high in the search engine, I suggest to shift the primary focus on building a list. You may work on building a list and SEO at the same time. The reason is SEO takes time so it is better if you put a "part-time" effort in SEO while focusing in list building, which can help you to earn much faster.

Once you have a list, you can send visitors to your blog at will, recommend great products, and possibly promote your own product, earn from affiliate commission or ads revenue. All this happen while you continue to build the SEO authority of your blog. Imagine 6 months down the road, your blog start to rank for certain keywords, you earn from your list as well as passive traffic and income from your SEO effort.
