Lead Generation Website - Are virtual addresses still possible?

I want to set up a lead gen site and get it listed in google places (Google My Business). However, I read somewhere that google is cracking down on this. I live in the UK. Will this still work for google places? Anyone successfully doing this?

Possible, yes; useful, no.

Rent a desk in someone's office, and you have an honest-to-goodness local, physical address!

I guess virtual address is dead google send the verification code to mailing address which you need to put to add to list your business in Google maps.
