Is there a better way to determine the search volume for local areas other than Googles keyword Planner tool?

I am trying to get better results for local search volumes for keywords in my country which is New Zealand. Google says 10, 20, 30, 40 , etc... I don't believe half of them... I think some kwds that Google says are only 10 searches per month are more like 30 and some are less. I believe the actual search volumes for smaller countries like NZ are not so accurate.

And, most of the keyword tools out there get all there stats from Google anyway.

Is there anything better?
