Hi guys,

It's my first post here. My relatively new site has been attacked by negative SEO by a competitor who is trying to outrank me and I want to disavow all the links via google webmaster but something strange is happening. I think it's actually helping my site?

So in June my site has a DA of 11 and PA of 24. The negative SEO attack started around June 9 until 10 days ago. Haven't detected new links so far. I checked opensiteexplorer and now my website has a DA of 24 and PA of 36. Note that I have only ever built around 8 new white hat links in 3 websites in the last two months.

The negative SEO attack is 100% spam comments linking to my site. Let's say my site is called shoesformen.com. The spam comments used the name of my site as anchor text in various combinations like "Shoes for men" "shoes for mens boys" "leather shoes for men" etc. So basically it's almost using the name of my site as anchor text and not like "cheap shoes" "cheap socks" "affordable shoes men" etc.

So what do you think about this? The spam comments are around 1000 now but 80% of those comments were posted on only 15-20 websites.

Should I go ahead and disavow these sites? What do you think I should do? It's my first time experiencing this. Thank you.

It's the magical link fairy doing you a favor... No, I'm kidding.
I say contact Google and get rid of this problem. I don't know if you can actually blame your competitor for this and make Google punish him, but maybe if they can see that he's doing so from the same IP that he's creating links for himself, maybe YOU can make Google take HIM down... Good luck!

Those comment are done and you have got backlinks. So even if you disvow those link he/she would continue doing it. I would suggest to inform google web master. Disvow will be loss of backlinks.

Hello, when you are building backlinks to your website, you should know before how strong they are, what metrics they have and how they would push your website / onlineshop in the rankings. Also you can take this negative SEO links and look what metrics they have and if the are helping you??? How BAD this negative SEO of your competitor should be to send good backlinks to your site??? WAKE UP. For sure the big end comes soon. If you don´t even know what you´re doing. Get a profi who know what to do. There is no way between that!

Worthless idea. Google does not care. They also have no way to know what IP the links are coming from. They do not own the internet.

Ignore this. Worthless. Metrics mean nothing in determining if the links are bad or not.

To the OP, are you sure it is someone else creating the links? Have you been doing any blog commenting for links yourself?

Thanks! No I have NOT been commenting on Japanese or Russian sites. And I know the competitor trying to bring down my site.

Disavow is silly. DA/PA is even sillier.

Focus on SEO instead of honeypots (disavow) and sales gimmicks.

Isn't that proof that PA, DA, and negative SEO are completely worthless?

Just enjoy it while it lasts.

I had negative SEO and spam bots attack one of my forums once, I let it run for a year or so and had the best traffic the website has ever seen. I then deleted all the spam and the website returned to being a dead one.

For this , I will suggest you to go to google and file a complaint for this issue. Also go to the google webmaster tools
and check how much links are useful from so called spammy blog commenting links. They usually created through backlinking
    tools."
