Amazon API-based store generator, suggestions?

I have this OLD site that was running the Amazon product feed by Mr Rat, which was CGI-based (anyone remember that?).

It is a pile of crap and has finally died on me (nearly brought down my shared hosting) and I really need some kind of replacement.

What the old script did was basically create an entire site on your domain off the Amazon API where the visitor could browse the entire Amazon catalogue and of course you got commissions for clickthroughs (it even had a built-in cart, but that's not so important).

I'm, not going to lie to you, this is pretty spammy and "thin", but the site was getting some traffic and sales, so if it ain't broke, you know..? I know I can't recreate the link structure, but I'll have to live with that.

Any suggestions for a similar script, paid or free (free is always nice!), could be Wordpress-based or standalone? I could write my own but, hmm, that was not really something I was planning in my life at this stage!

I know there are plenty of these around, but I'd like to hear suggestions.

I am never a fond of that kind of websites as amazon usually treats them as a not required websites and can ban your account anytime.

Can I ask how much visits where you getting per month and what was the conversion rate. Instead of going with a API based store my suggestion would be to start a amazon niche site full of quality content as amazon loves these kind of websites and you wont face any issues in future
