I think people are getting confused here. Bookmarking sites and social networking sites are not the same thing. Digg and Delicious are bookmarking sites. Twitter, Facebook and Reddit are social networking sites.

The difference is bookmarking sites are places where you ... well ... bookmark pages you would like to return to later. Networking sites are where people discuss things and develop relationships that they may be able to leverage. Networking can drive traffic. Bookmarking does very little to drive traffic and build your reputation in a community.
