  • You can't prevent someone copying your content from your web site. But from your side you need to make sure that you are using fresh content and it indexes first by SE.
  • I think duplicate content irritates every blogger including me, that's why I searched more for it.

In a video from Matt Cuts, he said that we check a lot duplicate content especially the ones who use tools, but he also stated that you shouldn't worry so much for it because all the internet things are duplicated.

If I find the video I'll add it here, but believe me, these are real words from him and not from me.

  • Use Copyscape Premium to get better results. It is more powerful than the free Copyscape. This is probably the only tool you need.

It is also good to add copyscape small logo on your site which target at 2 audiences:

Visitors - indirectly show that you provide original content on your site.
Potential plagiarists - make them think twice before copy your content.
  • Duplicate content can be easily checked with the help of the different SEO tools available free on the Google. Tools ie.
    1. Plagiarism SEO tool.
    2. CopySpace SEO tool.

These SEO tools help you to check whether the content is duplicate or not

  • To Check that someone has copied your text, you need to pick a text line and search in Google as a query in this format

"Here is the text that you want to search for duplicate".

By this you will get to know the websites using your content if you have posted unique content over website previously.
  • Most people, even experienced marketers get this totally wrong. Duplicate content is where the same article appears on the same website, usually on different pages. It is not duplicate content if the same article appears on many DIFFERENT websites.

So you can have, for example, the same article posted on as many different websites or article marketing sites as you like. This is not duplicate content.

Why you ask, would people want to put the same article on the same website. Well people used to do this to try and fool Google into believing the website was bigger than it actually was.

Try Googling a phrase, could be anything, and in the search results you will see not just one, but in some cases many different websites or article directories that contain that exact same content. Now don't you think if that wasn't allowed Google would quickly recognise that? I'm repeating myself but that is why the same article can be published on many diifferent websites because it is NOT duplicate content.

So as long as you don't publish the same content on the same website, you are NOT publishing duplicate content.

I hope this clarifies the matter.

    • Agree, there is nothing duplicate content.
You know content is king. Sometimes its harmful for your keywords, if you are not using quality content or duplicate content for your website.
  • It is impossible to have absolutely unique content. There are millions of websites and somewhere out there there will be a page similar to yours.

  • Hi,

If it's not major then you can directly check in Google like, select the specific content > right click > Search Google for '...'

This will give you the results if there is any direct duplicate data available.

Otherwise, you can go for Copyscape's free version also.
  • I've been using Copyscape for a years now. it really works mate! you can try it too
