Site Structure Problems - Please help is possible...

Hey guys

I'm thinking about the best way to sort out an indexation issue for a client and was hoping for some clarity. None of the news pages or testimonial pages are indexed. Its structurally a mess using a flat URL structure with a lot of blank pages.

isisremovals.com - This is the site. GWT tells me 50 pages of 150 are indexed. The pages which are not are all located under the testimonial section, with the news(blogs) and testimonials mixed together.

I'm thinking in order to get this indexed, I should create subfolders for the news and testimonials like this: isisremovals.com/testimonials/blahblahblah and isisremovals.com/news/blog-postblahblah, then 301 all the pages to the relevant new url. I would then canonicalise each new page, and paginate the testimonials and news sections.

There is an archived section which is on the right hand side as well which takes you to the testimonials in a list format. I could use this structure in some way maybe...

It's getting me confused on how I should attack this.

Any help is much appreciated as always!

Tom

    a couple things

First does indexing the site have any upside? Do the pages rank or could rank for anything?

Second I see no reason to do 301s. Just fix the navigation and make up your mind about what you want to rank. to mess with the navigation and do a bunch of 301s just to index some blogs pages doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Indexing comes easily with good structure.

Third the site needs a lot of work SEO wise. When you say your "client" I am hoping you are doing something else for them besides SEO?

P.S. the testimonial page is whack and needs fixing. Why numbered?

I say 'client' i mean fixing the onsite then maybe some link building.

Cheers for the feedback. The testimonial page is shite I know. Im going to redesign it but was wondering if I should just get rid and 301 the testimonial pages. What would be best to sort the structure?

GWT data is rarely up to date, forget that, manually check the URLs yourself and see If they're indexed or not.

Keep in mind duplicate pages could possibly be buried in Supplemental SERPs and be messing with WMT counts.

Either way you need to be personally verify indexed pages. At the very least do a site : domain.com search considering it's less than 200 pages.

Verify the client hasn't deindexed their own pages with a meta noindex tag in the HTML source code. Trust me, it happens.

Also note, followed links from other webpages with heavy Google bot traffic is what keeps pages constantly crawled by Google bot. Check the Google cache dates on potential followed backlink pages, that will tell you how recent a backlink page has been reindexed (active Google bot).

Yeah i done all you said prev, 50 pages indexed doing a site search, every other page outside of the testimonials section is indexed. No use of meta robots across the site, no exclusions in robots.txt and sitemap is upto date. Literally none of those pages are indexed im assuming because they are so thin/shit. Site only went live in April. Just wondering best course of action to fix it, not just for the site but so i understand as well. Any help is appreciated cheers Yukon
