"Help! I've fallen and can't get up."

Maybe you should have Alexa carry a beeper around at all times. That way, when it falls down, it can call its daughters and they'd rush in and put it back up on her feet.

In case you didn't get it: you shouldn't care what Alexa does and does not do.
You should care about things that matter: like ranking high in Google and selling.

Not sure why most of the webmasters care for Alexa rankings. They dont matter much if you really want to increase start commenting on blogs of other webmasters that will bring them to your websites and since they will have also have alexa toolbar installed it will help you in bringing alexa rank up.

Or you can install the alexa toolbar on your browser and start visiting your website daily and you will see changes.

1st you should forget about alexa ranking, it's not worthy any more.
You should focus on ranking higher on google, build strong user relationship on your website, all the matters is traffic o your website and sale of your products or services.

But if you still worried about alesa rank then,
1st install Alexa toolbar and start visiting your website using Alexa toolbar daily and ask to other employees, friends ... (Dropping alexa rank some times is a trick of Alexa to use there services)
2nd try to make updation on your website on a regular basis.

3rd increase traffic on your website as much as possible.
4th share your website urls on social media as much as possible and ask other to reshare.

As per my personal experience, Alexa ranking can never be stable for any website, new or old, all i can suggest you to update your website articles on daily basis, Alexa rank has no strong relation with your site traffic, but it only depends on how frequent you update your site.

No. It has nothing to do with updating your site.

Why are so many people confused about what Alexa Rank is and how it is calculated when Alexa makes the information public to anyone that wants to know?

Because most site owners consider a low Alexa ranking as an indication their website is performing well, that is why so much attention is placed on it.

They Alexa algorithm has really been unstable for the past months. Maybe some changes have been applied which we are yet to know. A lot of people complain about falling rankings.

Well those site owners are ignorant.

And no, there is no evidence that the Alexa algorithm has been "unstable". You are just hanging around with the crowd that whines and bitches about their Alexa ranking.

Get off of newbie forums like this one and you will not see anyone talking about it.
