My SEO plan- starting to work- more suggestions?

Okay so I now have two sites that are steadily rising in SERPs for a number of longtail phrases. Initially I just put the sites together without doing much onpage SEO, because the structure and content of the sites is good it seems to have had an effect.I'm now going through and doing a load of onsite SEO work to it.

I have also a number of backlinks to the sites- a mixture of High PR PDFs filesharing sites with the URL embedded in the document.

I have a Pinterest board which is packed with related images, and has the keywords in many descriptions of the pins, though Pinterest appears to be nofollow, I know boards themselves can rank.

I've pinged my links to various places like Pingler, a few social signals are in place too (linked Facebook and twitter pages).

So what else can I do? Content is not a problem- I also know from reading the Moz guides the best way to place KWs through structure of posts, pages etc, so that's being worked on.

Do people use Youtube, Web 2.0s where content is syndicated, keen to hear other's thoughts?

In your opinion- what's more important- quality backlinks, onpage- or are they equal, and do you have a strategy in a nutshell?

After fixing the Onpage of your website you should focus on building links.
Here is a suggestions I can give you. Start generating list of blogs in your niche in which you can drop comment (Not generic comments instead post quality and long comments so that your comments can get approved)
Start spending time over forums as they provide dofollow links usually and help in ranking better.
Do some QnA and start doing blogger outreach

If all the above done perfectly you will def. some good rise in your rankings.

First you need to do On-page seo for your website because it also improve the website rank. After performing On-Page SEO concentrate on building back-links. You can create back-links by following these steps:
    • Submit articles with your website link to high PR websites
    • Comment on forum and blogs to get back links but do not do spam comments
    • Perform directory submission( Do not buy links because they are low PR links)
And regularly update your blog contents to drive more traffic to your website. If the users like your website post, they might add your article link in their website.

Neither on-page nor off-page SEO is more important than the other; they go hand in hand. Quality links are impossible to get without quality content. Good content and backlinks also have a more profound effect when the page is perfectly optimized.

I normally advise taking care of the one thing you have absolute control over first - on page SEO. Then, each quality link you obtain will have its maximum effect.

If I were you, this is what I would do:-

    (1) I would focus on what is working. There are zillions of ways to promote a website. However, just relentlessly focusing on just 2-3 methods and doing them on massive scale is enough. I would not scatter my energy on numerous platform and create a collection of thin properties. I would focus my whole energy on my blog and 1-2 web/social properties around it and make them as authoritative as possible.

    (2) For content, I would create the biggest collection of long tail keywords of my niche and arrange them into manageable chunk of themes. Then I would write massive articles around those themes keywords and promote them through outreach.

    (3) Once the long tail traffic starts trickling, I would create an optin funnel and build a list of targeted audience for future follow ups.

Then, I will keep rinse and repeat the above 3 steps.

The above three points sum up my whole strategy.

Do you also have Facebook, Twitter and Google+ ?. These 3 social platforms are important in SEO offpage. If you have a Fanpage URL and name with exact match on your keyword, your site will have many change to get higher rank. I think you need to create more profiles on some big social guys like these.

I understand the best of them for doing some off page SEO is Google + right? I have read about some successful cases of people using Google + to improve their rankings.

What do you suggest exactly for using Social Media as off page SEO? links and keywords in the content would be enough?

Also how much of a difference does pinging a URL to various pinging services make vs not pinging it?
