Hi all,

Now although I'm a relative newbie to all this, I thought I'd share with you what I've learnt (SEO wise) over the past 6 months. If anyone adds value from this post then great. Likewise, If anyone thinks I've missed something BIG or perhaps just wants to throw in their views, then that's cool with me...

My SEO Summary

*Back links are crucial (aim for sites with high PR 6-9)
* Use long tail keywords for better results
* One keyword per page
* c 4% density of that keyword in the text (try to include this 4% in the first couple of paragraphs
* Ensure keyword is used in the meta Title and H1, also the opening line
* Use other pages to link into the 'money page'. All link text (anchor text) should be created using the keyword you're targeting
* Make use of H2 - H6 tags, including keyword where appropriate
* Also use keyword in alt tag (picture title)
* Setup an XML sitemap
* Produce great content that is relevant for google AND humans!

HTH

Cheers
Martin

    Here's two more tips that should help, Don't think about seo too much and write to sell your customers not the search engines.

    Hey Martin I'd agree with pretty much everything you
    said except the 4% keyword density part. 4% is very high!
    In a 300 word article that means your keyword appears
    12 times!!! Waaay too much.

    If you want my advice from years of SEO it's that you
    shouldn't overuse your keyword. Write your articles as
    you normally would without thinking about keyword density.

    If you really want a guideline to go by then 1-2% is good.

    "All link text (anchor text) should be created using the keyword you're targeting"

    From within your site I would say yes but for external links mixing it up a little is good. If hundreds of sites link to you naturally, I doubt they would all use the exact same anchor text.

    I would agree with Amity Will.

    In addition to this sure the amount of words on each page is no less the 500.
