Grrrrrooooogle top rank in 30 seconds garbage

Guys listen up, I'm sick and tired of people being exploited by absolute garbage.........

When content is first indexed it can often appear at #1 for the first 24-48 hours. This is just the way Google works. After that time period Googles ranking algo will kick in and your page will start to find its true position - usually way down.

I'm so fed up of people selling THEIR SUPER SECRET HULKSMASH GOOGLE METHOD for this when the reality is it's just how Google works. Drives me nuts.

    Damn straight brother!

I just went round and round with a customer about this topic - he refuses to believe that his articles could be listed within 10 hours, rank on the first page or two for a few days and then fall back to page 72.

Listen up folks - getting listed in Google in a matter of minutes or hours is no big deal...but it doesn't matter. Every single page listed is going to bubble through Google's system until it finds it's "True" place in SERPS for that moment.

The thing to realize is that it's not permanent!

What it does is give you a measure of what else you need to be doing to pull it up to the first page - through both on and off page SEO.

There is no page in SERPS that is ever "Locked" into a particular position - a page that stays in the top spot stays there because of ongoing SEO...

How very true. The keywords here are - "Ongoing SEO".

      Continual effort is definitely needed.

It's a lot more complicated than that.

BigMike has the opinion that it will go way back to page 72 again, my opinion is it's a lot more complicated than that.

Sometimes I just find those golden keywords that are in the "a lot more complicated than that" idea of Google ranking and I can make my rankings stick for months and months until someone else comes and finds out about "the a lot more complicated than that" way of ranking and the exact keyword, and I mostly have to say goodbye to my site as they take advantage of "the a lot more complicated than that" way to rank :-(

All in all it's a lot more complicated than what ANY product I have read or seen has said!

You are right, Big Mike. twitterguru don't believe that kind of stuff which promises quick ranking in Google. One thing they can't promise you is long term ranking.

With Web 2.0 you can easily score quick ranking in Google within hours. But it fizzles after a few days.

What you need is a consistent link building campaign. One thing I learn from SEO is that you can't stop building links if you want to continue to make money from the target keywords.

Your competitors will someday catch up with your ranking the moment you stop building links to your money page.

What I also hate are "experts" advertising rankings under terms that receive no Google search volume data (aka, 0 searches a month).

"Learn How I Achieved First Place Ranking On Google Using My Secret Method" - then you look at the example and the term is something like "lemon juice cleanser". You could probably rank #5 under "forex" and it wouldn't be as good as the "#1 ranking that XYZ guru got" in the average consumers eyes.

No wonder there's so much charlatanism in this industry.

    Hi twitterguru,

You are describing the classic user/abuser personality.

Sorry, I'm having a hard time following you here. Could you explain?

Sure, Google is responsible for developing the technology that finds, indexes and ranks fresh content high in the SERP (QDF - Query Deserves Freshness). The phony "guru" steps in and takes credit for Google's amazing technical prowess as if it was his own doing.

I teach my students and advise my clients that SEO is a process, not a project. You don't get a page ranked well and then quit, you have to continually nurture your pages in order to keep them ranked well.
