Hi everyone!

I was super nervous to write on here because I'm not very savvy when it comes to the optimizing websites and SEOs, but I heard this was the right place to come to ask questions so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I created a blog back in August and just recently switched my blog over from Weebly to Wordpress. Even back when I had Weebly, I couldn't really figure out how to optimize my website for Google searches. Even when I type my blog name into Google it won't show up at all.

What can I do to get my blog at least showing up when I type in the blog name in Google? I don't even know where to start, so any advice on what I can do on the SEO/Google front would be very appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance!!

-Kit

First make a decent website on weebly or wordpress. Although, wordpress gives exciting options to you for blogging. Getting ranked well in the search engines requires two things - on-page and off-page SEO. On-page SEO is 100% under your control and you can learn everything you need to know with this article - How to Achieve Perfect On-Page SEO.

Off-page SEO is all about getting backlinks. There are tons of places online where you can discover great methods of getting backlinks. Probably the best person to follow is Brian Dean - Backlinko. We cover a whole lot of methods in our free online course, as well.

When we started out it was tough to decide where or how to focus our attention. We eventually came up with forming categorised SEO which allowed us to identify key areas of interest. Such categories were; location seo, industry seo, niche seo and product seo. We kept the focus on one aspect at a time and expanded on each I.e. 5 different location targets. then built into the other categories from there whilst collecting data showing which provided the most hits and also qualitative data including where our most profitable clients are based etc. We would recommend this route once you are familiar with the basics.

Your website didn't appear on Google even you searched with the right its name. it means your website hasn't indexed by Google yet. To index faster, I highly recommend use Google Webmaster Tool. Reading this to know how: blog.kissmetrics.com/get-google-to-index/

After your website is indexed. As many people mentioned above, on-page SEO and off-page SEO are next things you must learning.

Here are some SEO blogs you should visit to learn more about SEO:

    Search Engine Land
    Moz
    Backlinko
    Matthew Woodward

Finally, SEO is a long process that's why a perseverance is essential when doing SEO.

Submit your website to google webmasters to make sure it is listed in google. Now work out on the best keywords your blog can be ranked. If the keywords are competitive, you dont stand much chance as a new blog. You need to make back links strong enough to compete. Get a strong social presence. Make your posts available in twitter, google + facebook, stumble upon etc...
Check how many backlinks your blog has using 100% Free Backlink Checker | Top SEO Tools on WebSEO.gdn
See the uniqueness of your blog using Advance Plagiarism Checker | Top SEO Tools on WebSEO.gdn
See what improvements can be made in your blogs in terms of grammar, uniqueness, etc...
Finally do cheap advertisements at relevant websites (nothing is free) and hope for the best.
And the last but not the least, analyse your website using http://webseo.gdn/seo_analyzer/ to see areas where you can improve SEO of your webpages.
