I also agree with you jipolis7 that backlinks that link to a site organically from high PR & Hi DA sites are very helpful than low PR & DA.

In my opinions, getting backlink from inside the post is considered more powerful than getting backlink from the Author bio or from the bottom.

Everyone has their own opinion and I might name several different backlinks which are useful. One of the best that often gets overlooked is a HARO (Help A Reporter Out). This service is a popular service which connects journalists those on the web which are experts in their relative fields. It basically provides journalists with a source (you) to provide them with an article that can be used with their newspaper, magazine, etc. Once they select your article, then you can back link it to your site. I just had another thought. I have been working some with Scoop It. This site allows writers to aggregate their favorite content around the web into a magazine format. web 2.0, Press release, Profile, Article submission....Just all spam.
Not only that authority, high PR and related to your niche are good. Google really love naturally backlinks. It's not mean you create quality content and wait people share your link to you. Just do something to find out people who want to read your content and introduce your content to them. Remember, if your content is useful to them, will much more likely they share your content.

If you want to earn quality back links as you need participate in the niche discussions, to do blogging, social bookmarks, article submission, involved in the QA sites,..

If you want to get back links from article, you need to write content in 500+ words and must be content on high DA article sites.

Basically you need to create quality backlinks according to your niche. For that you have to make sure that the sites where you are creating a backlink is a high ranking website. The submission process is pretty understandable, eg: you need to register to the website first and then start submiting relevant articles, urls, images, videos, posts, etc. The main aim must be to make the user experience better such that if a user comes on the backlink website it gets interested in your article, image, video etc and gets interested or engaged in it. Google aims for its user experience to be better by every search.

The best backlinks for SEO, in general, are the ones you don't control. If you place the link, it's not the best. Blog comments, not the best. Forum signature - not the best. Directories - not the best. Guest blogs - not the best. Earning links isn't always possible or attainable but if you're after the best, the best ones are placed on sites naturally by people who love what you're doing. Everything else is just waiting to be devalued.

Ideally you should be creating content that people will want to link to naturally. This requires a lot of out-reach and networking but it truly is the best way to gain links. If you are building links then use sites that are relevant to your niche - they don't have to be super high authority sites. All good links count.

I see some people mention PBN's but this is not a practice I would use if you want to build a sustainable online asset. Although PBN links do work (for now) it is getting harder to game the system and Google is only getting smarter. So, unless you really know what you are doing you will get slapped eventually.

In relation to SEO best practices about Backlinks it comes to four major things:

1) Diversity: it’s easier to have 100 links from 10 websites than 10000 links in one website

2) Anchor-text: the actual text in the links is also extremely important mainly because it tells to browse engines

what your page is all about. That is why, being a word of advice: don’t link externally with your keywords

3) Link juice (PR): links originating from websites with higher PR get more value than links provided by lower PR. That is why higher PR usually means more requests to link exchange

4) Trust and Authority: this signifies the part of links coming from authority websites

Backlinks that are generated from high authority sites & have huge popularity among the online visitors are being treated as the genuine backlink that are helpful in augmenting in raising the rank of a website in search engines quickly.

A low quality backlink generated from a low authority site won't be effective & it will show a negative effect in the ranking of a website. As page rank is no more of importance in checking the popularity of a website, one must judge a website by its popularity & domain authority.

- write articles and submit to article directories
- directory submissions
- get on relevant blogs - on the blogroll
- discuss relevant forums with your website since the signature with useful and helpful comments

There are many sites in Google where you'll find high authority sites that didn't charge anything for creating backlinks. The only way through which you can gain quality backlinks is by doing Qna in Quora, Blog posting, Article submitting & by making PBN. Press release is somewhat helpful as it is not recommended by Google these days.

Some people have a mentality that all links are built the same. I don't personally agree with that. I don't see anything wrong with getting lesser valued links like social profile links, blog comments, etc.... But if you think that just getting these kind of links are going to be enough to get you to the number 1 spot in Google, you are sadly mistaken.

To sum up, the best kinds of backlinks are ones:

- Relevant to your domain
- Contextual
- Coming from a website which has high Trust Flow on Majesticseo.com
- Using an anchor as opposed to a generic keyword phrase
- Coming from EDU or GOV sites

I would like to share here a list of link building techniques which still work in this year:
- Guest posts is still an effective technique. But you should do it right, create and maintain relationships with industry news sources and blogs, produce high-quality content and make sure that you link back to your site in a useful and relevant way;
- Blogging, which is a unique way for a company to engage their audience , attract links and achieve higher organic rankings;
- Infographics;
- Directories link building technique still works, but you need to be mindful with how to approach it. Directory link building requires judgement and critical thinking! so do not be tempted by low-quality directories, they will cause you more damage than good.
- Asking for links is still an original and trusted technique that still works.
