Apologies if this is not the right place, but we are seeking SEO help to help us boost our rankings.

Through a combination of Panda, Penguin and culled pages, we have lost about 90% of our traffic in 4 years.

Have been around for a while and seen many pretenders, so this is for the really experienced and knowledgeable people.

Please let me know if you can help/can recommend.

thanks.

Do you do your SEO by your own or you have person in charge. I have read a lot of posts connected to update and affection of positions. I have to say sometimes that happens, but the most important thing is: that is temporary.

    Hi,

More info is better to help. But in this case, there are 2 ways to solve your issue.

    1. Fix your website: way to fix depends on your website's situation. What did you do with your website before being punished by Google? and why you got it? Once you identify your problem, just make a clear plan to fix your website.
    2. Create and build a new site: In a really bad case, building a new site is a smart choice.

If you have used unnatural linkbuilding from past 4 years from then when ever an update rolls our you will have to clean the previous things and build new links to manipulate rankings.

But if you want to acquire proper spots then its better if you go for guest posts and links from outreach.

Well a lot of things could go wrong within the span of 4 years because of the way Google are pushing algorithms nowadays.

With that being said, the first thing you need to have is a gameplan and you can't formulate one without knowing in extensive details the cause of your poor ranking s so in order to detect the cause, I strongly recommend ann in depth SEO Audit.

Because, It's only after you've done an indepth audit can your site begin to progress as it highlights the bad links that are hindering your site's progress.

    After that it gets easier☺

Either you trashed the link profile or you payed someone else to trash it so now you're looking for a miracle worker.

      Neither actually..

We did build some spammy link 8 years ago, but they have since been disavowed. We did some link building over the last 4 months and have seen a positive shift since the penguin update.

The issue over the years was that we were told to cull so many pages in fear of overlapping product/listing results and also articles that didnt have over 200 words. A combination of everthing has led to a fall in visits but for someone who knows what they are doing, I think it would be more straightforward.

According to majestic you (presuming the site is yours)had a huge drop off of links only a few years ago. majestic has no knowledge of links being disavowed internally at Google so that drop off was not related to disavowing.

SEO can be self taught. I am currently my self and SEO and COntent professional, and most in our resources and tools are made open to anybody. Visit SEOmoz.org and look at their blog since they are industry leading experts and offer great beginners overviews. When you have a basic understanding, the only way to learn is as simple as doing. Get yourself a website going and attempt to rank for specific keywords. There may be more to SEO than that, but at the conclusion of the morning, companies and clients are usually concerned with their Google rankings and the volume of traffic visiting their internet site.
