Best Current off Page SEO Factors?

Hey guys and gals. I know that no-one has the 100% down low on SEO and what the google machine really wants from start to finish and that its definitive list of criteria is not public and is subject to constant and invisible change. But I also know that some people DO know quite a bit, and this is a great place to find those that do know quite a bit and to seek their knowledge.
I really appreciate people lending their time and knowledge to help others on this forum and to be honest, the more time I spend reading its posts and comments, the more I learn, and the more I learn the more time I spend on the site to the point where Internet marketing and all its related niches have become areas of massive interest for me to the point where I have to use exercise considerable discipline to peel myself away from the internet marketing side of my business to give sufficient time to the other necessary areas that are involved. Some turnaround from my initial start up phase where I started looking into internet marketing purely as a necessity to starting my own business.
So in short its become a wee bit of a healthy addiction, (if there even is such a thing). And when I gain sufficient knowledge on these matters I fully intend to pay it forward and help the next person in line who comes here to seek knowledge and learn.
Ehhh, so anyway, my reason for posting (before I got sidetracked into a little love letter to warriorforum) was to ask you knowledgeable and kind people, what are the most important off page SEO elements at the moment, in your opinions.
