So, I'm finally getting around to making an effort to building my rank.

I've just paid an outsourcer to start doing some backlinking through social bookmarking.

I've heard to fantastic results from this, so I'm hoping to get at least page 2 results and eventually page 1.

Out of these strategies, which would you recommend above all others?

  • Article marketing
  • Directories
  • Squidoo/Hubpages
  • Blog carnivals
  • Blog commenting
Thanks in advance for your help!

Well, I suggest you do all of those, but I would suggest in general the following:

    1. Niche specific link building on related blogs, forums - build those links directly to your site.
    2. Set up satellite pages (squidoo, hub pages, etc.) and set up a bunch of social bookmarks and other links to those sites - note that if you do automated link building, do it to satellite sites, not direct to your main site.
    3. Carnivals, yahoo answers, etc.

I like to use Market Samurai and Google alerts to find incoming blogs and forums to post on, and I always post real relevant content that actually contributes to the conversation.

    Hope that helps!

  • The best strategy is to get real links on real sites that have tons of traffic... links that people will actually use to come to your site.

You can go after one really great link or you can go after 1,000's. The winners are those who figure out how to get targeted traffic with the least amount of effort.

Quantity strategies often fail and they can leave a nasty "footprint" you never recover from.
