SEO for primarily video content site

I have a website / blog in which the content is primarily video (that I created). Most blog posts are actually just a post with an embedded Youtube video from my YT channel (all videos were created by me).

Question is: Is it possible to do well in search rankings (Google, for example) with a site that is mostly video embeds? Or is it absolutely imperative to have written content for all video posts?

My primary reasons for wanting to not do as much written content are:

- when I write, I tend to go way too much in depth and my content gets super long and crazy, which negatively impacts the percentage of people that finish reading it (just look at this thread I'm posting!)

- my audience prefers video and doesn't want to read as much (easier to consume video, gets across the ideas and visual aspects of my niche better)

- written content is way easier for competitors and other people to plagiarize. Part of my brand / identity / USP is or will be the unique ideas I put out. Firstly, it infuriates me to think of people using my ideas and reworking my content for their own purposes and taking credit for it. Secondly I don't want people to ever think I'm the copycat (Google, or readers, or whoever). I know this is mostly a personal problem and it's holding me back but I'm not sure how to deal with it. I guess this is one of my struggles in my entreprenurial pursuit. But still the first two points above are legit in my mind.

Anyway, what can I do for SEO, rankings, whatever, if just posting most embedded videos with short descriptions. Is it possible to succeed this way? Or must I bite the bullet and put all my content up in written form to really win? (and offer my ideas on a platter for easy pickings by content farms and competitors)

Videos don’t have to be movies with actors and special effects. Photo montages create flow without movement, and parallax technology creates motion from still photos.Keep videos short. Yet it is surprising how much information can be communicated in a short time via video. Cut the script. Since video communicates so much on its own visually, sometimes you don’t even need a script for it.

    Yes add descriptive content. Also use the options available to embed video info in your video and your webpage.

    Plus create content in a linked blog and off site content and links to the video pages and build relevance that way.
