SEO and copy-paste on Magento

Hello!
I have a few questions concerning SEO and Magento please
I am running the back office of two related companies websites which sell almost the same products.
I am currently creating French versions of product sheets that we already have in German and English and Im adding them to Magento (our webshops backoffice).
I know that I should definitely avoid copy-paste from manufacturers websites, because it is very bad for our SEO.
The thing is that we have several hundred products and I really have no time to translate into French for each of them the Title, the meta- title, the Meta and short description and above all the long product description!
My questions are:
- Is it absolutely important to translate the content of each sections (Title, short description) - or some of them are not necessarily relevant for SEO?
- Will it impact SEO if I copy-paste manufacturers description and make a very few changes (i.e. I add one sentence; I change a few words by synonyms, etc)
- Is it OK if I use exactly the same texts for the two companies? I mean: Will search engines recognize that these 2 websites are related and that there is no plagiarism?
