Is social media marketing relevant without SEO?

Im just starting out a new business. Im already quite savvy at creating good content, but I have no clue about SEO. Is it worth starting out by just doing content marketing through social media? Or is this useless without being backed up with good SEO.

My other option is to wait until I have leaned/paid someone enough to tackle the SEO simultaneously to the SEM. Thanks.

    I think you should not wait when you have learned SEO. You can start right now in other thread of forum or use google search. There are many lessons about SEO. You should use both is good for you

    Research in a way about what are the keywords related to your niche and what are its average monthly searches, and prepare content around those researched keywords, you will definitely get good rankings for those keywords.

    Actually SEO is not at all required technically speaking (look at celebrity accounts, travel bloggers, food bloggers, etc) they just share content which attracts followers from around the world.
    Considering Social Media is a part of Search Engine Optimization, I'd say SEO is essential for Social Media Marketing.
