Do you think is it possible to launch a new website in 2016 in a crowded market?

For example, can you create a recipe websites and succeed to have a good ROI and a good rank on competitive keywords? I know, it will take time to beat out competitors mainly because they have much more referral traffic but is it possible in the long term?

What strategy would you recommand to create this type of website?

Yes of Course it is possible to get good traffic in long term, readers in any particular niche market are always in quest of useful and unique content that is applicable. Research for best keywords which have good number of average monthly searches in your niche and create content which has depth for particular keywords and try to cover all the keywords and phrases related to that keyword. long content covering all the aspects of the topic are always ranked well. And likewise it will bring good amount of traffic.

I would say yes. And the way to do is to go for a very specific area in that crowed market and specialize yourself in it. In a specific kind of recipes for instance. Go for really easy to rank keywords - especially product review ones. Or recipe keywords that rank well. I use Traffic Travis to determine if a keyword will be easy or not. Even the free version work well.

Crowded markets and competitive markets are two entirely different things. There are tons of markets with hundreds of thousands or even millions of competing webpages where the competition on page one is not particularly strong. There are also ones where there are only a few dozen competing pages but they are extremely difficult to pass in the rankings because of the number of links, site age, content optimization and authority they have in that niche.

First, as "guyfromnb" suggested, narrow down on a much more specialized niche and establish your site as the go-to place for that. Also, realize that SEO is not the be-all and end-all of traffic. Find groups that have been created on social networks or forums related to that niche and establish a helpful presence in those places. Both social networks and forums can drive significant traffic.

Yes of Course it is possible to beat competitor in crowded market but you have to do Deep keyword research first and it takes
long time to beat your competitors. I would say choose that niche in which you find many keywords with less competition
The strategy to beat strong competitors consumed the majority of time, effort and budget, was the long-term white hat strategy.
This strategy focused on a diverse range of white-hat link building / content marketing, and brand building tactics.

Agreed with all of the above. Create great unique content, make sure to have strong social media presence. Moreover, nowadays 60% of searches coming from smartphones, so an error-free mobile site is a must. As well, voice search keeps growing at a supersonic speed, so featured snippet listings have great potential in here, esp. for recipe websites. You can check with your competitors whether they are well optimized for that or not. Good luck!

The online market of 2016 is getting competitive day by day & the startups with new inkling creating a huge trouble for the established ones to think of a new way to garb the attention of their targeted audience towards their site rather than moving somewhere else.

The only which the new website can take to sustain in this market is the implementation of new strategies of marketing to stand above all by showing the features of their business in an effective manner. Reaching at the top among the established ones is not so difficult, as it needs a strategy that can drag the attention of viewers towards a new website & can block them on it.
