why backlinks are different for http and https version of a website?

We have moved our website from http to https. When I tried to check the backlinks for both URLs, tools showing different backlinks. showing more baklinks for http version and showing no backlinks for https version. why it showing like that?

  • Its simple, your back-links was on http url and Google considers http and https urls different. This is true for all other back-link checker tools as well. If you have 301 redirected http url to https url then you will get all back-links' juice on new url. But it will take some time. So just make sure you have correct redirect in place. The links and ranking and visitors will be restored in few days (depends on number of pages).
