Why Adsense Is Still Awesome

Almost every day a new thread appears here at warrior from someone asking how they can make good money from Adsense and almost without exception comes the usual response..

"Why bother with Adsense when CPA/Affiliate/Product (delete as approprate) sites can earn much more"

First of all there is no wrong or right answer to this, of course CPA, affiliate and info products sites are a great way of making money and I do all three and earn a good living from them but there is something special about Adsense.

The point is CPA offers can come and go within a few months and suddenly you have to scrabble around finding a new CPA offer for your site. Affiliate products can also have a short shelf life or attract a lot of negative attention suddenly or simply cease to exist one day. A good affiliate site is usually built around a product so this can give you as a publisher big problems if the affiliate product disapears.

The beauty of Adsense is that it is always there ticking away, earning you a regular income every day. I liken Adsense to a savings account, it might not be the most aggresive way of earning money but it is always there earning you interest.

Of course you have to do the right things to keep your adsense account and I know it isn't for everybody but above everything there is something very addictive about watching your Adsense account. That feeling you get when you refresh your Adsense account and see the dollars (or pounds now) rise is special. That is why Adsense is still awesome!

If you are willing to play the "slow and steady" game, AdSense can be a goldmine. It certainly isn't for people looking to make quick money.

Adsense is consistency game, any sharp increase or decrease in your CTR/earnings makes Google unhappy. So if you can do it slowly moving upwards it's a gold mine.

Can someone tell me what they think would be a good CTR on Adsense for a product review blog? Its a somewhat smaller niche, but Im getting around 18k unique visitors per month on a blog thats about 10 months old, so its not terribly small. I've read lots of estimates that range from 1% all the way up to 5%, so Im curious to see what you all think.

I just don't get how to approach Adsense? There's no real motivation to write good content because all you want is for you visitor to click away from your site. That means it's all about getting traffic, LARGE quantities for it to mean something. Imo. I hate to come across a made-for-adsense blog because I just know that the guys putting them up don't give a damn about their content. And then there's all the people trying to target 'the high paying niches' like law, insurance and health and give horrible advice and just spam the net in general. To me, Adsense seems like the last resort, if you can't write and can't market. Don't get me wrong, I agree that it's nice to have those Adsense blogs bringing in steady income day after day, I just wish people would stay away from spamming on serious subjects where they can hurt people.

I agree with just about everything you said. However, not everyone who markets for AdSense throws up crap sites. The sites that I use and lease out all contain hand-written content that's actually useful to my visitors.

Too much generalization here (IMHO)--not all sites using AdSense suck or require large amounts of traffic to be "worth it" to the owner.

But I agree with hurting people. However, it goes beyond health. Isn't having a site about buying stuff with wrong information hurting people too?

Bottom line, when content is simply rewritten from other shoddy sources without any expertise behind it, there's a problem.

BTW, this has nothing to do with AdSense. I see the same law and health sites you speak of building lists, promoting affiliate products, etc.

I will agree. Adsense is the best: it allows us to earn money on the internet and that is something great. Its a great feeling to see income coming from an online source. However, I haven't yet reached a stage where I am earning good money via adsense, but I am trying to increase the traffic and I am pretty sure that one day, I will be making living through adsense.
