Hello everyone,

I am hoping to gain insight into off-site SEO practices. I am creating a digital marketing blog for a college course, and while I am able to apply these 'best' practices to a local business, I am having a hard time finding valuable backlinks for this type of website..

Basically, my blog contains 5 main blog posts about 'hot' topics in digital marketing- I have create social sites, social bookmarking, and one high authority backlink.

Here's my website: hjwilliamson.com

If you have any suggestions or comments on my blogs I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!
Hjwill

  • this is not an SEO comment, but I think all that info on the home page about yourself may be counterproductive (even though it contains a nice photo of yourself). You could put the same info on an About Page. The personal angle might work for a fashion site, but not for an SEO site.

The real meat of your blog (and you have some catchy titles) should be on your home page.

    Just my opinion.

I would also create a few more posts including a 2000 word post

  • I don't understand. Is this for a school project, or you're getting paid to make a website for this college that is trying to sell this particular course.

    • This is for a class. "Student ranking project". Our grade depends on how well we are ranked for certain keywords.

  • Because you can.. your a student there.. I would be seeking out University blogs that you can post and link from. I am thinking U of M.. Michigan Ross right? I am sure there are blogs associated there you could get links from. For that matter.. trade with fellow students, if their assignments are the same ( build a site )
