Hi,

I'm thinking about creating a tech news site and I wonder what if the news have little or no original content what would happen:

Bad ranking?

It could rank well if very good on page SEO is applied?

As long as you give credit to the author or source you are good to go. with proper seo, ranking wont be an issue. Yes it would rank if very good on-page and off-page seo is applied.

I would never post an article that has already been published on the internet... but that's just me.

Whether you give credit or not. You are copying another person's hard work. I would reach out to him and take permission first before copying any of his content.

But in the case of news, let's say LG release a new product I don't think they would care about others re publishing the news... my opinion though

I apreciate the replies so far but I would like more opinions please, especially from people who have news sites

There's a thing called Curation of content and many big and small websites do that so you will be safe but I would suggest to add some quality content too else it can be a bad sign for you.

In my opinion, irrespective of whether you curate the content or not, initially your site will not rank high enough to get traffic.

Why? Because there are probably at least 50 websites with higher authority than yours already ranking for those keyword terms.

A friend of mine tried it and after a year gave up because he was getting only 100-120 visitors a day, nothing to be really happy about.

I am not trying to discourage you - I am just saying that a lot of link building is necessary to make it work.
