Competition vs CPC

I am trying to understand the Competition and CPC data that I am seeing for a set of keywords. I am using a site called KeywordsEverywhere dot com (via the Firefox plugin) to get data and what is confusing to me is when a keyword has a high competition but a low CPC. Line 11 in the the below image is such an example.

In the image I made bold all the Competition numbers that are less than .5 as my "short list" of what keywords to target, but line 11 has a very good keyword for me (meaning it matches my needs very well) so I want to understand what these numbers mean and thus understand if I should try to work on line 11 or one of the other bold lines.

    These figures look like pay-per-click (Adwords) competition to me, which has nothing to do with SEO. An SEO competition score uses the combined site metrics (domain authority, trust flow etc.) calculated by third party software (Moz, Majestic, Ahrefs etc.) of the top 10 ranked sites of a particular keyword.

    I would recommend forgetting about the CPC (unless you are actually doing PPC ads?) and look at the site authority, backlink profile and popularity of your top 10 competitors for your chosen keyword, the lower their metrics are the better chances you have of outranking them.

    Great software that can help you quickly find out the SEO keyword competition score are Long Tail Cloud, Moz Keyword Explorer, Ahrefs Keyword Tool and Keyword.io and there are others.
