Most of my guest posters are bad writers! Should my writer do it for them and they pay me the cost?

I had an idea, but after sleeping on it I wonder if it will get me in trouble with Big G, so I wanted to get some opinions here.

This is for one of my money sites, an old and large authority site. Not a churn and burn by any means!

I get a lot of poorly written guest post submissions and I want to eliminate some of the crap I get. These people have good sites and I'm happy to let them guest post, but their guest posts are sometimes terrible.

So I thought of offering guest posters two options....

#1 - the standard way, they send me their post and I post it, totally free of course.

#2 - I offer to let one of my writers create a 1,000 word article on their topic of choice and include a couple of their links for a fee, say $25.

Bear in mind I never publish any guest post on my site unless it is high quality and in line the niche. Only the best goes on this site.

The big question is....is this seen as link selling? Is Google going to ban my beloved site?

Am I being dumb?

    They may have good sites - but bad articles cheapen your own site.

    I'd reject bad articles in a minute - and tell the person politely the article does not meet my standards and suggest they hire a writer for a better quality article....and resubmit for consideration.

    I wouldn't broker writing of "guest posts" for my own site - but I wouldn't hesitate to send a list of "recommended" writers for the person to choose from.

    I write articles, but get $400 for them. I also do editing. I was a college prof., and can tell you that the main problem is editing. People write a draft and turn it in.


    That was the problem with many of the papers I graded. People remark on my writing abilities, asking me how I do it, and the answer is simple: I do at least 3-4 revisions.


    It is clich', but perspiration is more important than inspiration. I spend a whole day on a 1200-1500 word article.

    Have you by chance tried to talk to them and explain to them about the quality of what they are submitting? Perhaps if you let them know they would make an effort to improve?

    The main reason people people accept guest posts is because they do not have the time or want to pay their own writers to write things. Why in the world would you offer to give someone a link for a measly $25 that is going to probably cost you that much to have written?

    Tell them that their writing sucks and to feel free to send you other articles after they have hired someone who actually knows how to write. If you ARE going to offer to write it for them, charge ten times that much for the article and link. And, know that you will be violating Google's Terms for selling links.

    Sure it's link selling, you just said money was exchanging hands in exchange for a link (#2). I assume it's a followed link.

    It's not a smart move to advertise link sales on your site.

      Thanks for the advice. I see your point, it's too grey and practically a black area, even if my intent is good.

      I'm going to abandon this idea and rethink how to handle it all. Maybe I can put in some strict standards to begin with to filter out the slag ahead of time.
