Alexa rank means your website value and traffic value at global based. If you want to define your website Alexa rank then use SEO Quake tool.

Its just the amount of traffic what you are getting to your site comparing to all other sites globally. Although, its not perfect.

Alexa means nothing to SEO, never has, never will.

Kind of amusing you're new to all this and asking about alexa. Not a good start.

Alexa rank is a rough judgement about how your site is ranked among others based on the factors like geo-location, backlinks, visitor's age, gender, education blah blah. This is not an accurate measure of anything like traffic kind of thing but a relative ranking figure.

Alexa means Forget me, never think about me, never worry about me. Alexa rank means Forget about Alexa rank, never think about Alexa rank, never worry about Alexa rank.

Thinking about Alexa ranking is a meaningless activity, doing something about Alexa ranking is a stoooopid activity or set of activities.

    Why?

Because Alexa ranking is not relevant to you ranking for any keyword, to you getting more traffic, to you making money.

Really, worrying about Alexa and worrying about me eating my vegetables produces the same results for you: you waste your time.

Alexa ranking is like a result of the exam you are taking. This will help you analyze where your website stand. where you are getting most of the traffic. How many backlinks your website have and what you can do to improve your website ranking.

Alexa ranking is a ranking system that basically audits and makes public the frequency of visits on various Web sites. Alexa counts traffic and other metrics of visitors who have the Alexa toolbar installed in their browser.

It's just a traffic ranking system. It will let you know your estimated traffic daily and your ranking among other sites on the internet. The number is as low as better.

No, it's not just a traffic-ranking system; it's a bad traffic-ranking system. I had several websites with the same 0-10 visitors a month each. They were ranked all over the place, from 1,200,000 something to 6,000,000. At the time, the sites were identical in most ways, including traffic.

Besides being a bad traffic-ranking system, it's paid.
