Hey Warriors

Just wanted to share some SEO techniques I've been using to rank in search engines and obtain traffic for clients and my own sites. Nothing that you may not have heard of, but if you apply these SEO tactics you too can get relevant high quality traffic from search engines.
  • Look out for keywords with high commercial intent to get traffic consisting of buyers
  • Use latent samentic indexing (LSI) keywords within your content
  • Publish long-form content that engages readers and offers them genuine value
  • Take care of your on-site SEO
  • Build relevant backlinks from authority sites
  • Leverage web 2.0s and piggy-back off their authority and trust

Of course there're many awesome SEO techniques out there that have been proven to work. These are just some of my favourite.

The most important thing with SEO and indeed any form of online marketing is to always test and prove for yourself what works for you and what doesn't.

So what SEO tactics have you been using lately? Would love to read some of your advice as well.

This is the one I would be careful with.. with Rank Brain in play now, LSI from the past ment implementing synonyms. Not that that, really has changed, BUT its the synonyms you now use that has changed. If you were to look at the synonym list for the term "Boat" it would look like this:

barge, canoe, catamaran, craft, dinghy, gondola, raft, sailboat, schooner, ship, yacht, ark, bark, bottom, bucket, dory, hulk, ketch, launch, lifeboat, pinnace, scow, skiff, and sloop

All fine and good, all of these terms ( I would question all - but I'm not thesaurus.com now am I? ) but all of the terms are related to the key term "Boat". The old way of thinking would be to try and "sprinkle" some of these terms into your writing.

With Rank Brain, the concept hasn't changed but the word choice you are "sprinkling" has. Using the fancy offline vectoring and AI and all that good stuff, Google is now analyzing what the intent of someone searching for "Boat" is. I would suggest someone typing in "Ship" is probably not looking for "Boat".

You now should be a bit more selective with the LSI terms you use, to ensure that the INTENT of the writing is kept within a pretty narrow point of CONTEXT. As an example from the list above. A "Sloop" is more directly related to a "Sailboat" a "Ketch" or a "schooner" than say a "Hulk" that is really a vessel that floats, but is not sea worthy.

You could also pair a Canoe with say an Outrigger, and a Catamaran.. but Catamaran is probably more directly related to a sail boat than a canoe ( even tho it can be both ) Its the INTENT of the end user that would dictates this. - And what makes this hard.. is we are not privy to intent in any way shape or form... other than a sudden unexplained loss of rank LOL

Google contextual search actually goes deeper than that for some keywords

Example, the keyword how to build a boat:

      • how to = hasn't happened yet, looking for more information on the subject
      • build a = step by step ordered HTML bullet list (structure is the key)
      • boat = root keyword

Stop words don't apply towards all keywords, in this case how to is the trigger which years ago would have been ignored.

Who, what, where, when and how are now keywords.

Traffic towards a website can be increased when its info can be spread on a large extent. Guest posting, Web2.0, Article posting, Blog posting, Social Bookmarking and question & answering are the popular SEO OFF Page techniques that could help a website to reach its targeted audience quickly. Not only this, but the Social Media Marketing & Video Marketing is equally beneficial for SEO to boost the rank of a website in Google abruptly. The only this that you must focus while doing OFF Page SEO is the usage of high-quality sites for making backlinks & a quality content must be posted in the sites you are using for making backlinks.

Do not rely only on SEO tactics to boost your traffic. You will never be able to get success. You will ultimately end up doing spammy practices. So, that will have an adverse impact on your site. Try to focus on the whole digital marketing practices. SEO is obviously the main activities but there are other vital wings like content, PPC, SMO.
But if you are concerned about the SEO tactics then I would guide you to read blogs. You can actually follow some of the renowned blogs on digital marketing. This will help you to get new ideas as well as keep a track of what is going on in this industry. As I have mentioned in one more question, I prefer to follow some of the blogs like Kiss Metrics, Techmagnate, Search Engine Land, Search Engine Journal and Moz. So, I would ask you to do the same.
