Hi All...would appreciate some of the experts input on this please.
Now I understand if you create a regular website using wordpress and you have multiple pages then def you can submit your xml maps to search engines and slowly accelerate your presence online using backlinks, forums, etc. But when you create a landing page (only one landing/sales/squeeze page) on a specific domain, obviously you can not submit that to google cuz they don't like it.....so what do you do to index landing pages? or is there such thing as SEO for landing pages? I know you use paid traffic methods usually to promote that page but if you're broke what do you do? I hope I was clear enough....thank you very much to all in advance.

    Hi Ibrahim,

Technically speaking, any page that you link to is a "landing page". A Landing Page is just the page you land on after clicking a link.

In advertising, whatever page you land on after clicking on an ad is called your ad's landing page. Perhaps you are thinking of an offer page for a banner ad, or similar?

You can certainly optimize an offer page for search engines, why would you think that you couldn't?

Please try to understand that Landing pages are often design to match an advertising message, and typically those kind of landing pages are custom designed to be paired with the ad, so SEO is not an important factor for such pages. Perhaps that is what you are referring to?

Please clarify and I will try to answer you question more precisely.

You partially got me....let me clarify more. Let's say I install wordpress on a new domain and I create ONLY a one page website....this page will be acting as a landing page....it will have a header, some content, and a call to action button. Now if I want to index this in search engines....is that recommended or not? and If it is recommended...can it actually be done? Can I get ranked in google or bing with a one page (or landing page) website? From what I understand in SEO....you need to have a website with multiple pages for them to even take you seriously.....I hope my question is clear now? And is there any free indexing tools for landing pages?

        Hi Ibrahim,

I will let you in on a secret, just between you and me. Search engines don't index websites, they index individual web pages.

While it is not really a secret, it seems that a lot of folks that are new to SEO don't immediately realize this fact. Websites that index and list websites are called "Website Directories" not "Search Engines". What makes a search engine a search engine is that it finds and returns the most relevant web page, (not website).

So, you see Search Engines do not care that your website has a single page, or many. What matters is that it is relevant and useful to their users, and that it meets a set of quality standards to be included in the SERP.

The advantage to having many pages on a website is that you have more places to promote your offer(s). You can still do that with a separate blog, or other websites. there is absolutely no disadvantage to having a SPA (Single Page App) as long as it makes sense to your users to do that.

Landing pages are relative term here. If the visitor come from search engines then SEO may be a factor as in on-page optimizations. But if the page is designed to receive visitors from an ad campaigns then generally they are professionally build so it changes the facts.

As far as links, you have two options.
    • Followed backlinks pointing at your own webpage.
    • On-page jump links like Wikipedia pages.

SEO can be done for single pages only but as you cannot stuff your so called single landing page with many different keywords, you probably receive a limited traffic targeting those keywords on your page.
