301 is the best technique if you want to permanently move the urls. For accessing the same contents with different urls (usually in classified sites), you can also use the canonical tags to avoid duplicate issues.

Rather than redirecting the page to some other URL, you can change the content of the website with new & fresh content which holds high authority & remove the old one. A website needs to be updated consistently & must be uploaded with new contents & images to drive the attention of readers towards it. It's beneficial & gives a positive result which helps in augmenting the traffic on a website quickly & boosting its rank in Google search engine easily.

I guess you aren't understanding my question. I do weekly updates with new blogs and images. The questions was if I am trying to promote my blog on other social media platforms I heard it is not good to simply copy and paste the original link and that it is best to create another url for each platform you post your blog to. Then you create a 301 redirect from that link you created to the original blog link. Understand or no comprende?

A 301 is the wrong way.

Use canonical tags in the HTML source code.

If you 301 a page the content might as well not exist because Google is looking at the HTTP header. The page doesn't even need to load for a bot to find a 301.

With a canonical tag inside the HTML source code Google has to look at the webpage in order to find the canonical tag.

Canonical tags can pass from one domain to another but most folks use them for duplicate internal pages.

Unless you have an commerce site you need to be asking yourself why you need duplicate pages.

Why are you posting duplicate content? Are you using other peoples content? You should post your own content to get better traffic. Duplicate content totally valueless.

I am posting my content on many different platforms ie Facebook, reddit, and social platforms like this. I do have a commerce site. Maybe I should word this differently.


When promoting my articles on other platforms I read on MOZ that creating a unique url and then redirecting the url back to the original url of the article is the best method of letting google know that the url you link to the social media platform is not the original url. Is this an incorrect way of PROMOTING articles?
