How long for backlinks to take effect on ranking?

Hi,

I have gained a couple of backlinks from high quality blogs over the last few weeks and haven't seen any change in my google ranking. I am currently on nr. 14 and my competition doesn't really have a strong backlink profile.

I am trying to understand two things:

1. How come my links aren't listed in any of the backlink checkers I looked at (e.g. MOZ open site explorer)? How long does it usually take for them to be detected there?

2. How long would you think it takes for Google to detect the links and for them to be reflected in the ranking?

Thanks,
Fabian

Well it is depend on the quality of the backlinks that you have created for your site. The more authoritative links you get the more chances that you links get index faster by Google.

Thanks! Is it possible to give a more specific idea? Let's say we talk about the top 10 yoga blogs for Germany and a general blog like Huffington Post?

Btw. since PR does not exist anymore, which number can be used as a proxy for page authority? Is there a standard?

MOZ has very strange link catcher so it could be happen that the link will not go to MOZ totally. In general MOZ update once per month.

    1) Because most backlink checkers are not that fast in crawling the internet. They don't have the resources that Google does, and Google has said it takes them 3-4 weeks to crawl the entire net. Besides, it doesn't matter if they show up in backlink checkers or not. All that matters is if Google knows about them or not.

    2. Somewhere between right away and never. Really, nobody knows for sure. The generally accepted theory is that if the links are cached by Google then Google knows about them and is incorporating them. So check the cached version of the pages your links are on and see if Google has them cached or not yet.

It varies no one can give an exact answer to this question.
Leave other link checkers look into google webmaster and see if those links appear in that or not.

Also are those links follow or nofollow?

What is the matter with this forum?? Why are people responding with the same obvious generic and quite useless responses 5times when it was already specified that it is a high authority link. It is obvious that it depends, I ask for a rough time range for a very specific kind of link. Sorry for the rant, but I am really wondering what the intent is behind some of the responses..

    Hello,

    Hello,
I think a higher DA will have a bigger effect. if your back-links have a higher DA(domain authority as well PA, you will see the growth of your ranking.
another factor is Getting links from a diverse group of domains is extremely important for SEO.Authoritative Domains Tend to Rank Higher in Google’s Search Results.

I'm sorry, but DA isn't a thing when it comes to link quality. If you're judging link quality based on DA then I suggest you reevaluate your strategy.

    1. The Moz OSE is probably the least detailed backlink checker available. No offense to Moz as they are a great SEO resource and I am a big fan of their blog, but MajesticSEO, SEMrush, and Ahrefs are far better in terms of backlink analysis. Google will see and factor your links far sooner than Moz will list them in OSE, try a free trial of Ahrefs for 2 weeks.

    2. Great question, I usually see backlinks take between 30-60 days to improve rankings, especially if you get several in a short period of time. This time frame does vary as some people claim it only takes a couple weeks to see a change.

*You can potentially speed this up if you verify your website in Google Search Console, then use the "Fetch and Render" tool and then "Request To Index" the page that the new links are pointing to. Be sure to check the box that says "Crawl This URL and It's Direct Links" as well. Best of Success!

If you purchase that links ask the vendor.

If not, it cannot be established. Couple of links are not so much

Anywhere from now to never. When it improves your site, come back. Let us know. Then we'll all know.

Not every good backlink will help any page.

Just because google detects a link, in no way, shape, or form means it matters in the scheme of where your site should rank.

You mistake your comp's public link profile to be all that matters.

The quantity of backlinks doesn't matter, quality plays the major role.

Keywords ranking depends on many factors apart from quality backlinks like if your competitor has unique and good content, it will automatically earn the quality backlinks from various sources and even they dont have to build backlink.

Though in your case confirm that whether the Google has detected that backlink in webmaster tool? and if not detected submit that link again to Google by AddUrl so that Google can crawl it. and if Google has already crawled that page and eventhough ranking is not moved up then try to build some more quality backlinks as it is still less than your competitor

    Hi,
It really depends on the type of link your create. If it's highly relevant and has Domain authority or page authority site it can be. They tend to put a rank fast on their links and sometimes you see the benefits after months.

Ans 1 - check your backlinks using AHREFS free account. It will show up your backlinks after 15 - 30 days.

Ans 2 - Google detects backlinks immediately if that page is indexed or you have pinged. but it will take time to improve your SERP position. It will improve eventually.
