Linking from expired domains

i came across a couple articles on searching out expired domains and then link them to your main site or pursue broken links to help out with other sited broken links.

Anyways I came across this expired site in my field. DA/PA is decent but it has 200k+ backlinks. From reviewing most are dead themselves or in a completely opposite field (which then would make me assume its spammy).

Now my site is pretty new and the DA is at 1 lol so i figure everything could help. would a site like this hurt me or help? Opinions?

I don't think that the links from what you described the expired domain is going to help you rank. Unless it have some quality links rather than useless non-niche links.

Thanks, i figured that but I thought I would come here just to verify. One more question, so even with a DA of in the 40s or 50s that wouldn't help either? it would be strictly backlinks?

Am I looking at DA incorrectly?

DA is a third party metrics. People generally use it to measure the average status of any domain. They don't have any direct or indirect effect on the SERP's.

I guess that the expired domain has no value from SEO point of view (no matter how many backlinks or DA it has) unless it is in the active state.

  • Do not look at the number of backlinks, nor at the metrics. Metrics can be faked by spamming links.
For an expired domain to have any value it needs to have an Astonishing backlink profile. You can try your luck at http://domainswithbacklinks.com/ or search by yourself. But unless you find some top notch backlinks within the backlink profile - just leave the domain alone - it is worthless.

Thanks for the feedback. Then let me ask you a question. Why are there so many websites and or people dedicated to purchasing expiring links and either 301 directing them or looking for backlinks from those expired domains?
