Advise on posting video content

Hello,

I just need a quick advice for my site.. I have a news/fan site for a game. We produce our own content and also share video contents of gameplays and walkthrough from others just by embedding video and title/description, each guide is on its own URL.

We have bunch of those video post on our site. Now, I was thinking to avoid doing this because it consumes a bit time to stay updated and post the guides. So I found a plugin that can fetch videos so I dont need to post manually.

Now if I use the plugin then each of the video titles will not have its own URL since the plugin will display all the content and open a popup to load the video.

Is that a bad thing for my site ?

Is it better for an user to stay on the site browsing and watching videos on a single page or better to create separate pages for each content ?

Hope I explained that well...

My end goal here is to keep our audience to the site.. we dont always produce new contents and we collaborate with other youtubers to share their video contents on our site (not sure if thats helping or affecting the site)

Looking forward to the suggestions.

How to get targeted traffic to your site?
If your traffic from Search Engine, you should not use pop up option. Otherwise, you can use the pop up plugin.
In my view, I did not like pop up option, it looks spam and unprofessional.

      Thanks for your input,

      1. The popup isnt just a lightbox of the videos loading .. The plugin fetches the video contents and displays it on the page. So yea, it wont be searchable. But users has a friendly way of viewing the contents.

      2. My traffic is from search engine but based on analytics, most traffic are coming for other contents on my site and not specifically these video contents that I manually post. These contents are also just a copy past of title, description and embed video so they can be considered copied contents.

So im thinking to go towards more of a user friendly display of the video contents through the plugin and have users stay on the site more while browsing these medias.

First off where do you serve the videos from? YouTube... Vimeo? Lets cut right to the chase here... its going to save you time by scraping videos.. honestly if this were the route I would take ( I wouldn't - ill get to that ) I would NOT use a plugin to do so.. I would find and view the video.. make sure it meets some type of standard then create the page for that video.

So back to what I would do.. IFI were creating video's. first off I would ensure they are on YouTube. Next I would ensure I was creating them.. sure they take time, but it expands your possible influence. Hmm Google is the #1 search engine.. and #2 is what? oh that's right YouTube.

That's just kinda as good as it gets.. and because it takes less time.. you would throw that away. Generally speaking.. people looking for video content will go straight to the source. I don't ever find myself going to a website to watch videos... If there happen to be videos on a site I am looking at say Destiny's site as an example, sure I may watch them, but for specific game play videos.. ill goto YouTube and search.

I might suggest you re think your strategy. If you are in the gaming niche, video is crucial.. not just any video.. YOUR video.

Thanks for everyones Advice! BUT there i think i have misinformed few things ...

    1. When i mentioned popup for video contents - its actually a lightbox that shows the video.. so not actually popup and wont be blocked on popup blockers

    2. My site is a fan site for a JP game franchise and my site is one of the first site to publish english news and guides for the game and franchise, so we have an audience and is well know in the community.

    3. We do produce our own articles and have our own youtube channel where we make our own guides and unboxing videos of toys.

    4. We don't produce contents regularly so now Im thinking of converting out site in to the "HUB/Portal" for the franchise... So deciding to highlight other youtubers contents on our site.

The site is running on Wordpress so I can either Post other's contents by posting them as a post or display them by using a plugin.

    Whats your thought on that?
