I just type names into places like GoDaddy until one that I like is free. There are lots of domains available. You don't have to go on flippa or the like to find one.

Keywords in domain names aren't as important as they used to be.

In my opinion it is great if your domain name has a strong keyword of the niche you are targeting. I would suggest doing a keyword research on your niche and selecting a keyword from there and merging with another word.

  A domain name that starts with your keyword used to be key, but now not so much. Also be aware that Google will penalize brand new domain names for up to six months - you might be better off buying one.

  Yeah I remember that. And Rand actually have a point saying that naming your domain intuitively works both for bots and for people as well. With a great name you have greater chances to be remembered. That's 2:0 in favor of good names.

godady is good one to buy a domain but it depends on your need which domain suits you. Check a variety of available domains and make a list and select the best one which suits your project theme.

You people are living in the twilight zone.

There is no such thing as a domain for seo. No such thing.

It's what you do with the website that counts.

But then, this is how the big dogs do it. They come up with a domain like, oh say something like zillow.com, and take it to the top of real estate websites. Of course the next one would be trulia.com....go figure.

I have no idea how websites even make it! You people are so wise and all-knowing! Man the internet would be not be filled with such junk sites like amazon.com.

You need to start a petition to convince google to stop ranking these nonsense named sites.

But then, you are on one of the biggest internet marketing forums....warriorforum.com. You need to get them to change the domain...oh to something like digitalpoint...

they all make good points.

my view/ understanding is that a keyword in the url doesnt get a tick by google for ranking, but I have noticed that a few of my competitors rank very high for a given keyword when it is in their url name - but they probably have the keywords throughout their pages and links pointing to their site.

godaddy auctions might be of use if you are after an aged domain that has keywords in your niche - lots of hunting involved. I find it mostly useful for giving my potential customers a very good idea of what my sites are about. They both have exact keywords matches (hig vol terms) for their url and are aged and not penalised for having the keywords in their. Thats because they also have new content and are real sites ...

That's because you don't know a url from a hole in the ground. And that's the problem.

Keywords/phrases in urls is just what the google doctored ordered....for a whole host of reasons.

But we are talking about domains........

7 years ago it was common-place to see domain names made from long-tail keyword phrases.

That strategy really won't help nowadays and might even upset Google. It's unnatural, and Google likes things to appear natural.

You really don't need to sweat the domain name. It's the content of your site and the traffic it attracts (the two are related) which matter most.

When you type the domain name in Godaddy, it will give you more hints, you only need to set the domain name related to your purposes, specifically should contain keywords the better.

Domain names are not as important as they were several iterations of Google's search engine ago. If you can't find a perfect match, and don't want to buy a domain, get something as close as you can, and then do other SEO.

1. EMD = Exact Match Domain

2. PMD = Pertial Match Domain

3. Brandablee Domain

To properly rank your site, try to choose PMD or Brandable domain.These will give you higher rankings of your site.
