This just popped in my head and was wondering your thoughts.

Do you think Google will ever devalue homepage links?

Because if you think about it, homepage links to other sites are often
  • PBN links
  • Sponsored website
  • Partners

and google doesn't like any of those links passing link juice onto another page and right now those are the most valuable backlinks.

Nah, they would look more closely at it.

For example, a site setup on Wordpress with 10 articles on the homepage and links embedded in each article. That screams public blog network.

That is the kind of thing they would target versus just all homepage links.

Yeah that makes sense. I would think in the future google's algo would be smart enough to detect a PBN like a human can. hopefully, thats atleast 10+ yrs out lol.

I agree Google will not do such thing without taking a deep look at it.

But you should be more careful while bringing links back from any homepage because if google smells it even a little as manipulated link profile then you are done.

Search engines rank pages, not websites. The home page of a website is no different than any other page of your website as far as search engines go. It's the links on a page that can get you in trouble; not what pages they are on. So no, I don't think Google will ever target home pages of websites and devalue those links any more than they would devalue them on any other page.

Probably not as home page is the root entry point to your website. If they devalue the root, that means they are targeting all your website (aka domain) as other page are just like branch pages.

a curious question to ask, unless you are talking about blogroll style links that appear on every page of your site?

And again if you have a legit site then that shouldn't be an issue. five pages dont make a real site.

From what i have learned, link diversity from sources and to what pages they target on your site is pretty vital these days. I have to keep that in mind, that not only are varied sources and anchor text important but also making sure you have links to the other pages on your sites, and that they are varied too. Of course if you are one of the chosen ones that everyone wants to link with, without any seo ... then this wouldnt matter hey?

    Hello,,,,
The way I understand it-they are about examining designs. They do a guide evaluation to get a website than it had been before, and indent it subsequently any website that's rated in the same manner might be less reliable. Perhaps it is only a small reduction in the routine that is related or positions activates IDK, a guide evaluation.
Then obviously they're also looking at the way in which Yahoo is really performed on by your website. Your click through, jump fee, and achievement speed etc..
The final big thing from the the algorithm being done by hand using by Yahoo is reducing the per cent for that I understand they're just starting to study business absorbed key words a whole lot much more than before and what they regarded satisfactory point text proportion. It is extremely uncommon to get someone to get the point text they require to make cash/revenue normally, in the event that you actually consider it.
    Joyful functioning

ROTFLMAO! Real Estate Lawyer, don't quit your day job!

What planet did those 4 thanks come from? You are not on Earth.

You list links that google may not like....what does that have to do with homepage?

But google does not hate partner links, that's for dang sure. It's called networking, corporate branching, affiliation, expanding the brand, etc. Every big site does it. Why not?

Well, when two sites link to each other I believe that devalues the link juice between the two. That's an easy way to manipulate rankings, so I would assume the value is lessened.

I might be wrong though, I was just told this long ago.

No. As much as Google wants to control the world, they cannot do this.

ROTFLMAO! Google owns...well, google. I suspect they can do most anything they want with their search engine, including.....wait for it.....judge links on a page.

Now, what planet of seo are you from?

Whoever told you that is a loon. Since it was a long time ago, shame on you for not knowing whether it's true or not.

omg this guy again. you think you know everything. people like you are one of the reasons why I stopped coming to this forum. You're always giving the lesser experienced people an attitude and pretending like you know everything. 75% of the comments I see you make are not constructive at all. All you do is talk down to people without contributing to the discussion.

You don't know exactly what link exchanges do.

I go by what makes sense. The person that told me this made a logical argument as to why two sites linking together are frowned upon. It's an easy way to manipulate the rankings.
