Hi Everyone

I have a website called Linux Hint I recently created. Now this is where I am confused.

- When I do a search for a keyword like "corebird", my site appears on first page

but

- When i do a search for "how to install corebird", my site does not appear in any of the few pages

Any reason why as I am new to this whole SEO system.

Thanks

If you need to get ranked for a specific keyword then you have to get some good links pointing towards the keyword's page.

Hi and thanks for the reply. Just so i understand this:

      - If "corebird" is a keyword, then will "how to install corebird" also be keyword or something since its a sentense.

      - Also when you say good links, like how?

What do I need to add in the page to optimize it for that keyword? Use "how to install xxx" in tags?

You're right, how to install a corebird should be called a keyphrase... but it's not. Most people still call it a keyword.

To rank for both, you need to do SEO for both... You need each one on the page and you need to get backlinks to that page that use each one as anchor text.

A bit more to it than can be done in one little post... But there's been a lot of people before you who asked how-to-rank questions on this forum and on Google.

Get some links with how to install corebird in the achor text. Something like expired tumblr hunter (free) would do, probably wouldn't need many.

    Hi sysads ,

First of all you need to make sure that you actually want to rank for this keyword. Checking whether number of searches is high, competition is low, as well as if it can bring you profit. Then you need to be clear that if you optimize a page for a particular keyword it doesn't actually mean that you will rank for the phrase that contains this keyword. It needs additional efforts from your side.
So, if you decide you want to go for it you need to optimize a page for your target keyword and -yes-get backlinks with this particular keywords as an anchor. Good luck!

An easy way to push authority to the page you're trying to rank is build out a few more internal pages (SEO Silo) targeting each of your main keywords.

You only have a single instance on your entire site that's targeting the exact keyword.

in my opinion you should you should choose and seo keywords long before and have a lot of traffic, the short keyword in the keyword phrase that will certainly ease up. when choosing keywords you first need to see how competitive the keywords in the Google Keyword Planer.
