If you asking about a wordpress blog and a self hosted site, which will rank better then I will say that both can rank well. If SEO is done correctly.

Technically not a difference... but there would be some exceptions to that. Time sensitive material tends to rank better ( I have found ) when using a post... actually not that it ranks better.. it has a tendency to rank faster.

what do I mean by time sensitive? if you are using schema to identify an event as an example that will take place on the 20th of whatever month, and you create a post on say the 7th this tends to rank pretty quick and generally decently. Not always the case with a page..

    Both have their own importance.

Posts- Posts are content entries listed in reverse chronological order on your blog's home page. Due to their reverse chronological order, your posts are meant to be timely. Older posts are archived based on month and year.

Pages- Pages are meant to be static "one-off" type content such as your about page, privacy policy, legal disclaimers, etc. While the WordPress database stores the published date of the page, pages are timeless entities.

For SEO it makes no difference.

Google just sees them as HTML and text.

In my opinion, both are equally important and they share one crucial similarity for faster ranking. Both Posts and Pages should exceed at lease 2000 words, that's how you gain Page Authority.

When your Pages and Posts information is Useful, you will inspire interest and receive comments. This is how to boost your Domain Authority.

The Highest I have been able to get a Blog Google Rating is 88%, and soon realized that Domain and Page Authority will make up the remaining 12% to a 100% Google Rating.

The Higher Your Rating the better your Ranking boost.
