Should I start a blog about my entry into Adsense?

Initially I thought this might be a good idea. It would definitely be helpful for newbie's to Adsense to see another newbie, me, blog about his experiences and how easy or hard making money from Adsense really is.

My ups and downs of trying to make it with Adsense.

But then...I started wondering if I should even do such a thing. I mean I am embarking on trying to make money from Adsense and creating web sites for just that purpose.

If not a violation of Google TOS for Adsense strictly speaking then definitely not in line with the ideal that Google might want (i.e. adding Adsense to sites that are being created with a view to having great content whether Adsense is on them or not).

So I began to wonder if someone out of jealousy for any success I encounter or whatever...could potentially ruin my Adsense adventure by reporting me for setting out to make sites to just make money from Adsense type of thing.

Now bear in mind that my personality type is such that I often over analyze things. That's just the way way I am. I am comfortable with myself being that way and I can steer myself away from over analyzing things too much but given my personality I wonder if in this case...my concern stems from over analysis and not from any real practical concern with respect to my really getting into trouble with Google.

Still there is always the possibility that someone might cause me trouble. Which makes me hesitate to start a blog on this.

Yet I am also aware of how valuable such a thing would be. To be able to watch over the shoulders of someone making a go at Adsense in real time.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone either pro or con with respect to whether I should start a blog on this.

Behind it all I am ever aware of the fact that those who make a killing from Adsense here never reveal their sites so as not to endanger their Adsense account. Something I don't quite understand if they are truly doing everything above board in such a way that Google would not frown upon anything they are doing.

Carlos

PS. I thought about this today again because the stuff I am encountering and learning would be invaluable to newbie's to Adsense both in what I am learning and the encouragement that would come to them to see someone just barrel through whatever obstacles they encounter.

It seems like you've already made up your mind that you DO want to do it, you're just worried about any possible repercussions, and that's totally understandable. If that's the case, here's what I would suggest. Host the blog on a DIFFERENT server from all of your other sites (if you are hosting it yourself), or set it up with a different gmail account if you're using something like Blogger. This makes it separate from the rest of your stuff, and they can't trace it back to your other sites. (I say to host it on a different server, because if someone REALLY wanted to, they could look up the ip address of your blog and then look at the other sites hosted on the same IP, so that's why you would want to keep it separate.)

Also, don't ever mention, or link to your sites that have adsense on them. There's a reason that people don't show or reveal there sites that have adsense on them, and that's because they don't want anyone that is malicious, to "click bomb" there site and possibly get there account shut down. Now, we all know that google says they can tell when just one person is "click bombing" (repeatedly clicking your adsense over and over again) your site.. but do you really want to take the chance?

If you want to help people out like you said, that's great, just keep it separate from what actually makes you money. You can still tell them what you are doing, and be "general" about it, but not give the exact site specifics. (like saying, my keyword that has to do with dogs moved up to #2 in the serps, because I backlinked it to this many websites.. etc)

    Hope that helps you!

Thanks AJ. I really appreciate your input.

I hadn't thought about the clicking abuse problem you mentioned. Given that, I can see why people would want to keep their Adsense sites private. For sure.

Tonight I am leaning in the direction of not blogging. But at the same time there is much learning going on in me that could be of real benefit to others.

My biggest concern is not general search engine traffic to my blog. It's that I would advertise the blog in my signature here such that I would end up getting Warrior traffic. Easily traceable back to me I think in that my main web development web site is known here...at least I have been putting it in my signature. Not that the whole world has noticed mind you or visited my site through it but still...some have.

So I don't think I could blog about it and be anonymous anymore.

At least not here. And this is really the one place I can think of where my blog might have been most helpful to newbies in the Adsense web creation business.

I wasn't even going to register a domain for the blog. Just give out the URL to get there without an actual domain (using an IP address and having the blog under a sub-directory of a hosting account that does not even have a domain of mine hosted there yet).

Still thinking about it but the newbieness of my Adsense experienciences is quickly and I mean quickly fading. Within another week I expect to be well along in what I need to know to create an Adsense empire of sorts (God willing).

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

Oh...and yes I have most definitely decided to go for it in Adsense.

I am committed come what may. It's either Adsense success or bust (well at least with respect to Adsense though I am shifting all my activities to make time for what I am pursuing with Adsense so if it doesn't pan out...well...let's just say that I will miss out big time in that I could have used my time to do other things that might have turned out more profitably for me).

I've been thinking about this and I think I am going to hold off for a bit. I want to get a bit more input from other internet marketers that I know somewhat before I plunge into blogging about my Adsense adventure.

The trouble with not doing it for me is that I will forget even what I myself went through which in itself might be valuable to remember .

Thanks for the input you all. I'm putting this on the back burner for now (even though I actually started the blogging before I started this post but stopped it in midstream).

I may still start it. I'll post here if I do. But for now...it's no go.

I'd hold off and instead spend the time working on your adsense sites.

The first thought of many new marketers is "I should blog about what I'm doing" but it doesn't make a great blog because so much authority info is available for people to follow.

Instead, why not keep notes daily of what works and what doesn't - the mistakes you make and the useful tools and sites you find that help you.

Later when your sites are beginning to do well, you'll have the information for a really good blog or even an info product of your own.

Good input Kay. That's pretty much what I have decided to do. Hold off on it.

It's going to be tough to take notes but well worth it for later use.

I'm doing this one step at a time. Very methodically. That's just the nature of my personality. A few days to become an expert keyword phrase picker. After I get a good solid 15 phrases (I had 6...I think...but gave away two on the forum here...odd that I haven't gotten any input on that thread yet) I will start building the sites. I've partnered up with someone who is backing me financially in this to build 15 sites. 7 for him and 8 for me.

All I really need for myself is 4 sites pulling in $10 each per day to make more than enough for my own living expenses (or 8 sites pulling in $5 per day, or 16 pulling in $2.50).

Thanks again for your input. Much appreciated.
