First, I would check if there are actually links there. Sometimes you show up in some kind of a feed or something and then the links are gone, but if your link is there at the time that a backlink checker crawls the site, it picks them all up.

Also, you might only have a link 1 link. That 1 link might have shown up in a "recent comments" type widget on every page of the site at the time it was crawled. So you had 300 links, but now it is just 1 after your link fell off that widget.

If you do have a bunch of links that you are worried about, I would ask the website directly to remove them before I would waste any time with a Disavow file. It is always better to have links removed. There are no guarantees with the Disavow file. Google can ignore it if they choose to.

No. You should see if the links are actually there or not. Then you should contact the website owner to remove them. That is the first and best option. If you do not hear back from the website owner after a week or so, then I would consider using the Disavow tool.

But I wouldn't really expect anything from the Disavow tool either.

Sometimes a link (one link) placed on blog roll it will produce lots of identical links. the best thing is asking the web master to delete the links. I would not disavow unless I was told by Google to clean up the links. I would disavow also if a site is deindexed. Even then if I can get the web master to delete my links I would do that only.

If you really felt that this kind of links are spamy, so cant wait and update database of disavow link and upload on webmaster tool.
Before disavow, you should cross verify that links with another webmasters.

    • Check your backlinks with differents tools like ahrefs, majestic, SEMrush & google webmaster
    • Find the contact details of the website owner and ask him to remove the link
    • Webmasters is not responding to your call to remove the link, you can also disavow these links
    • Use the disavow tool to request that Google not take low-quality backlinks from a blog or website

You can use any backlink tool to run a quick check on attributes and quality of these backlinks. But first make sure you`ve checked the real-time presence of the links on those 18 pages you mention, as the crawlers` indexes are slightly outdated all the time (I personally load the links into SEO SpyGlass to verify them in real-time).

The website is not deindexed by Google, however, you may check the linking pages specifically. You may also check the Penalty Risk or Trust Flow with the tools (if the backlinks are 'dofollow'), and if the results still make you worry - you can even check some of the backlinks to see which context they are placed in.

If you don`t know who they come from, and they look unnatural or spammy or randomly placed - you may indeed request the site-owner to remove them, or disavow them from your side.

Well, it has free and paid versions (not really expensive though). The free version is not time-limited, but has some functionality limitations. To analyze your above-case and to try it out free version seems to be enough, so you can grab it here and create a project for your particular questionable links.
