Ranking sites in Canadian SERPS with a .com extension

Hello,

Has anyone had any luck ranking sites in Canada (google.ca) with a .com? I know it's ideal to have a .ca, is there any way to get one if you're not a resident?

Thanks, any tips/stories would be helpful.

    You can rank anywhere with a .com domain. Just focus on building links from Canadian sites and also optimize your site account in Google Webmasters tool for Canada.

    It's not helpful at all. .com is the default for US.

    But extensions for ranking in the US are all mixed up now.

    Other countries are different.

    Get yourself a .ca and host in canada.

    If you cannot get a .ca, at least host the site in canada. And have canada written all over your website. You should publish an address and phone in canada.

    If none of that applies to you....then why are you shooting for canada?

    Seriously people. Why do you think a .ca exists? For the heck of it?

    If your website warrants a spot in canada serps, it will be there, .ca or not, if the search is not for canada specific. There's nothing you really have to do, other than normal things.

    But targeting canada is a different ball game.

      I've tried to get a .ca, seems near impossible if you're not a citizen.

      I'll take your advice with hosting and NAP for sure.
