SSL certificates are used to encrypt the transmitted information to secure identities and financial information over the web. At this time, all websites should have an SSL certificate for data integrity, encryption and authentication, whether it collects private information or not.

Google also loves security and would like to establish secure environment over the internet, therefore Google starts giving ranking advantage in search engine to secure HTTPS websites.

However, most important thing â€Â" user trust. When users search for the product on search engine and see your website “HTTPS†then users already known that the website is secured and there will be more chances to visit your website and convert visitors into the buyers.

Google will automatically index your https links when they are indeed secure in terms of the use of the https protocol.

Once your site appears as a secure site in a Chrome or Firefox browser you will see the lock icon in the url address bar. You should ensure all content requests called to load your content should also adopt the https protocol.

If some GET requests use http when loading a page your browser in the case of Chrome will show an info icon which when clicked looks like this..

Your connection to this site is not secure
You should not enter any sensitive information on this site (for example, passwords or credit cards), because it could be stolen by attackers.

Once all your pages load with a secure lock icon, Google will index them as https pages

According to the latest update on Google, which they did on DEC, 2015 they have set their indexing tool to give more preference automatically to HTTPS. So don't worry your web page will move automatically to HTTPS from HTTP.

My kind advice is please don't do anything in-order to move from HTTPS from HTTP. Earlier (2 yrs ago) i had the same question i.e. What to do to move from HTTP to HTTPS? At that time i was not having much knowledge on these things and did some weird thins to make google index my HTTPS pages fast. But it was quite the opposite.

So keep it simple, by not doing anything, your pages will be automatically indexed to HTTPS.

  • In the Google search console help, there is a post on how to secure your site with https.
There are a few things you need to take care of like setting up 301 redirects, updating robots.txt etc.

Not a ranking factor - but you have to test don't listen to nobody when it comes to seo. Only by testing you know.

https site with SSL certificate are very important for search engine ranking...these criteria are very important to provide security and keep your eCommerce website protected from hackers....since your have a business website you should always have a secure website since it involves lot of money transaction...!!Indexing get be checked on the google webmaster tool..or you can manually also submit your website for indexing...!!!

If your site was changed to https, make sure you can't get to any non-secure http pages (they should be redirecting to https). Then resubmit your sitemap to search console and wait for Google's bots to update the search engines.

new website with https is indexed to Google
This confuses me, because you shouldn't have to create a whole new website with https...just adding a SSL Certificate and making sure your site redirects to https is all you should have to do.

If you have redirected whole your website to https then Create xml sitemap for your redirected website (https urls) and resubmit it through search console (Google webmaster tool) and wait for some days to index it.

But if you have not redirected all website urls to https then follow my reply at thread http://www.warriorforum.com/website-...#/post11037165 to do this.
