Restore the ranking of a single keyword in google.com.au?

Hey Folks,

I learned a lot from this forum. There are very knowledgeable people sitting here. I have a question regarding the ranking of a single keyword.

In fact, I want to know, for a regional version of google let's say - google.com.au, if there is a keyword like "toys", used to rank on page 1 for a website and now it is ranking on page 3.

So, what could be the possible techniques or solutions or practices, that would bring back or restore its position. This keyword belongs to a very reputable website whose thousands of keywords are ranking at the first page. So, I am a bit skeptical to use any of the techniques which are considered sure-shot.

As, I believe many experts are available at this forum. What would be the best strategy to reinstate the position of this keyword or at least bring it back to page 1, if not on position 1.

I would be extremely thankful to you all, if you would spare a few moments to solve my query.

    I think what you are trying to say is that a single keyword, that used to be on page 1, is now on page 3. If that is the case, you need to first figure out why it dropped.

    Knowing when it dropped usually is a pretty good indicator of why it dropped. Use the free Panguin tool to line up the drop with a known algorithm change. Then, you'll know why.

    My guess is that it is link related. Don't waste your time disavowing links or finding bad links to the page that was ranking for that phrase and requesting that they be removed. Google is ignoring suspicious links now, not penalizing them. A rankings drop usually means they have devalued links that used to be helping a page rank.

    Concentrate on building new, good links to the page that used to be ranking on page one. It wouldn't hurt to link internally from other pages of your site to that page, where appropriate, too.
