I apologise if this has been asked before but I couldn't find it on a search. Does anyone know how effective it is to setup a blog on the wordpress domain compared to a lesser known free blog hosting service?

i.e. will having "myproduct.wordpress.com" influence google SERPs more than "myproduct.joesfreebloggsoftware.com"?
