Is an SEO service the way to go?

Hi Warriors,
Let's face it, there are only so many hours in the day. With 3 other business (not online), most of my IM stuff is done between 10pm and 3am.

In my sleep deprived state I ran across a couple of traffic generating companies that claim to do article marketing, forum marketing, SEO, social bookmarking etc etc. for you for a prettly low cost.

I'm looking at troublefreetraffic and another one (name escapes me right now). Has anyone used these types of services? For $200-$500/month, the time savings alone would be worth it. I haven't yet found a quick way to do all of the tasks needed to begin ranking highly on the search engines...takes a lot of time. Outsourcing seems like the way to go.

I've used elance in the past to create articles and to outsource pieces of the puzzle but never tried outsourcing multiple tasks to one company.

I'm also considering starting a business offering online SEO to certain niches in my area...business owners that have a need to rank higher on search engines but don't have a clue how to or the time to do it themselves. I'm looking at a program by Mary Guidelis and a program called Local Business Money Machine to get started offline.

Any input would be appreciated.

    From a time perspective an SEO service is definitely the way to go IMO. A lot of the work that needs doing for SEO is repetitive and frankly boring. Just make sure you pick the right service and don't fall for any 'you need to pay us $5,000 to seo your site' rubbish.

    Honestly I got a few quotes from some well known SEO companies and I was horrified at the fees they wanted to charge me

    I've been using a team in India on another site for like $300 per month and they've done a great job.

    Yeah, if you know what you want done, simply outsourcing the work is easy and inexpensive, definately the way to go.

      I'd have to reiterate what has already been said, namely be cautious with what type of service you go with. I used an article writing/seo service once, and I think they definitely hurt my serps. Make sure you know what you want from them, and make sure they can be held accountable.

    Well to be honest outsourcing all the leg works is the best investment you can do for your online business. $500 a month as you mentioned is good price but sometimes low paying free lancers don't deliver what you expect them to do for you.

    I suggest that before hiring someone else ask them if they can refer you to their old customer for you to ask their performance.

    The price is based off what you know and how much involvement you are going to have.

    $300 - $500 is a good starter amount, but it also depends on your keywords.

    Don't think you can optimize for something like "used cars" for that amount of money.

    I get asked all the time to SEO for 1 & 2 word keywords for the $300 - $500 range.

    When I put hard core analysis into it, i see that really its going to require a $2k - $3k range of link building services (monthly) to get the job done.

    Some SEO's would charge you exorbitant fees because they can . . . however when we set our prices its always based on keywords / competition / and the level of onsite optimization / content / backlinks that will be provided.

    Thanks everybody. I would do the leg work for the keywords and narrow them down to the long tail so the competition wouldn't be so steep. I appreciate everyone's feedback.
